Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."
Ok I have answered the test, let's see how it went. :shifty:
okay, hopefully i'm asking you guys in the right place...i'm not finding a seperate thread to ask you fluffmasters questions. but here goes i'm trying to get a bit more background on pre-heresy World Eaters,
1) what they called themselves.
2) How would the imperium react to a battle barge (or similar size of ship) of uncorrupted world eaters showing up? I.e. having been lost in the warp for centuries and suddenly reappearing.
1) They called themselves the World Eaters and had a white and blue color scheme.
2) They would verify that it is a World Eaters battle barge, then shoot it. Shoot it till its dead.
The reason being that the World Eaters has already gone chaos, and it could
a) be a trap set by the World Eaters,
b) the uncorrupted World Eaters could (and probably would) go chaos as their brethren and primarch have
c) ships that have been lost in the warp for thousands of years rarely emerge uncorrupted anyways.

Not only every correct thing Ebon Hand has just said, but the entire legion has been declared traitors. Their geneseed is corrupted so there is no chance any of them are welcomed back into the imperium because the geneseed they carry within is capable of being corrupted. [Its stupid, but thats how the imperium now works. 8.5-9 thousand years ago they might have welcomed them though...]
Hokay.
Now I realize that the galaxy is split up into segmentums along the 'horizontal' radius as it were.
Seen here.
1. However the galaxy is 3 dimensional, so my question is, are there any areas in the galaxy not covered by the segmentums?
2. Somewhat connected to this, although I realize that there are many unexplored systems and planets, and indeed areas that the Imperium rarely goes: Ie: Empire of Charandon, Eye of Terror, Maelstrom, Storm of the Emperor's Wrath ect.
Are there any areas that haven't been cursorarily examined at least from the outside. Ie: are there any major unknown areas of space?
By this, I don't mean Ork Empires, Hrud, Tau, Fra'al,ect. holdings. While the Empire may not typically go into those areas, they at least have a rough idea what they contain.
Also I realize that there are a great number of 'dead' worlds, some of which may contain Necrons, and others perhaps even worse things ect.
I simply mean are there any 'frontiers' in the galaxy itself.
The answer to the first question is probably going to be no.

I always imagined the segmenta to be three dimensional slices of cake. That is, they extended out and back towards and away from the reader of the map as well. That would make sense.
And yes, there are. Macharius' crusade had to turn back as he reached the edge of the galaxy around the Halo Zone, because planets ran out, as did the light of the Astronomicon. Also, to the galactic "north east" there are the Ghost Stars, which take a lot of getting to. The Imperium has managed it (Angelis, aka Gorkamorka is in that region of space), but it's so far away from anywhere else that they don't bother with it.
Beyond that, I think it's just where the galaxy runs out of stars. Which will take a long time, but it will happen eventually.
And in my official capacity, can I ask you all to welcome Ebon Hand and Da Mighty Camel to our illustrious ranks? May they go forth and fill the world with their knowledge of all things fluffy!
Xerxes, I thought Macharius's crusade stopped and turned back because his men refused to follow him, not because they reached the edge of the galaxy. (Hence why he wept at the end of the crusade.)
Mixture of both... they saw no real point in going on, both because they were tired and because the worlds were running out.
