| Cthulhu Mythos The Cthulhu Mythos is a branch of horror fictions which has stood the test of time. Begun more than 80 years ago, it's not quite a shared background, not quite a genre of it's own, not quite a series of homages and inside jokes by the writers who created it, but it has elements of all of these (along with some damn fine story-telling). It has inspired some hoaxes and conspiracies, some terrible movies, and even a few popular video games. by kuro5hin.org |

I have read almost all of his works...The book to pick up if you can is "Tales"...It is a collections of his better stories...One of my favorites that does not get the fanfair it deserves is "The Thing on the Doorstep". Check it out i.

I am not to sure if all of it is...I think that some of his later stories are not in the public domain yet..."the thing on the doorstep"...maybe it all is now. I thought that only recently did "The Call of Cthulhu" and "At the Mountains of Madness" become public.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Seems like the best place to ask. Is it worth putting the Necronomicon on my Christmas wish list at all? From what I understand it collects all his stories and comes in a very appropriate cover? Any one got and know of this copy at all?

The Necronomicon is not HP Lovecraft thats from CoS and lavei. And besides that necronomicon is just some poorly concieved excretor bovinas intended to deprive you of your monies for which there are better uses (IE buying minis) HP Lovecraft on the other hand is highly entertaining. I strongly recommend people to at least get the omnibuses with the essential works. If you can't get ahold of those you should try and get "at the mountains of madness" which is often considered to be the easiest road to take into the world of HP. Other than that I can recommend "the case of charles dexter ward" and "rats in the walls". Enjoy.

It looks like just another collection of Lovecrafts works...The Necronomicon is not a real book. If it were, it would be written be the mad arab Abhul Alhazred ;-) At the Mountains of madness is a good read, I would look for "Tales" by HP Lovecraft, as it is one of the most complete collections of his works that I have seen to date.
