    1500 points First ever army list

    This is my first ever army list so its probably terrible but here i go.

    Summary:
    This army consists of an Inquisitor and his largeish retinue leading a Grey Knights strike team. I would have had a land raider or a dreadnought but i would have needed a Grey Knights Hero as an HQ choice.

    Like the rest of your army you have gone a bit wargear crazy. This chap is the biggest offender. Drop EVERYTHING off him, including the retinue. =][= are flops in cc and it doesn't have a transport to get where they are going so death by shooting is guaranteed. Do the shooty build, psycannon, 3x Heavy bolters, Mystic. Cheap and cheerful and 100x more effective than the above build.

    If you wanted a GKHero to take GKDreads or GKLR then why not just bump this squad up to the HQ section? Holocaust cann't be taken by GKT only by the BC. DO NOT mix and match special weapons, both psy cannons or both incinerators, if the latter than a transport is needed. You, err, Master Crafted a flamer? Drop all the toys as some is useless (tele homer) and get another couple of GKT to about 5 men. Run a psycannon on the BC.

    Okays. All these troops are wrong. You have mixed and matched SWs again and in the case on incinerators you again have no transports. You will be charged before they even fire. 5 man squads will drop like fly's, up to 7-8 men for survivability. Again DROP ALL WARGEAR on the justicars. At most they need frags and master crafted NFW if you have points to spare which in a DH list you shouldn't. Some wargear is again just useless (purity seals, GKs never run away and carapace armour, you are giving a 3+ save model a 4+ save??

    In 5th ED FAGKs are now worse than useless. Its all about the troops now so change to troops.

    It seems to me that you don't have enough models to run 1500 so loaded up on wargear to make the difference up. Just play a 1000pts instead. This list has 0 anti tank (well, 1 thunder hammer) and will get mauled for it. You could easily save 500pts by droping all the wargear which would be 2 LRs or 3 GKDreads. Up to you.

    I have to know before I start in on this; is this a list you made with a background story in mind, or one you're hoping to play with against other folks at a gaming club or something?

    yes it had a theme as an inquisitor leading a grey knights task force
    also i haven't bought the models yet i was seeing what guys said first

    Taking all the wargear out doesn't save enough for 2 land raiders i modified it following your advice and i couldn't afford 2.

    No matter how you equip your Inq Lord + retinue, they will never be better than Grey Knights/Grey Knight Terminators in close combat. Therefore, I suggest you make them shooty as that is where they are most effective.

    Also, Daemonhunter armies are very expensive pointwise. You will almost always be outnumbered. Thus, it is best to minimize on the wargear and maximize on the manpower (or anti-tank).

    Finally, one of the Daemonhunter's biggest weaknesses is ranged anti-tank. The best option would be land raiders, however, they are expensive. If you want a cheaper solution, go with GK Dreadnoughts.

    This is how I would redo your list (assuming you're not taking Land Raiders):

    HQ
    Inquisitor Lord - psycannon - 75
    1x mystics, 2x sage, 1 warrior - plasma cannon, 2 warriors - plasma guns (or heavy bolters) - 111 (or 107 w/3 heavy bolters)

    BC - psycannon - 91
    4x GKT retinue - psycannon - 209

    TROOPS
    7x PAGK's (Power-armored Grey Knights) - 200
    7x PAGK's (Power-armored Grey Knights) - 200
    7x PAGK's (Power-armored Grey Knights) - 200

    HEAVY
    GK Dread - TL-las, EA, smokes - 138
    GK Dread - TL-las, EA, smokes - 138
    GK Dread - TL-las, EA, smokes - 138

    TOTAL - 1500 (or 149O)


    If you want to go for double-land raiders, I would go like this:


    HQ
    Inquisitor Lord - psycannon - 75
    1x mystics, 2x sage, 1 warrior - plasma cannon, 2 warriors - plasma guns (or heavy bolters) - 111 (or 107 w/3 heavy bolters)

    BC - incinerator - 81

    TROOPS

    8x PAGK's - 2x incinerators - 245 (BC would go with 1 of these squads in LR)
    8x PAGK's - 2x incinerators - 245 (BC would go with 1 of these squads in LR)
    6x PAGK's - 2x psycannnons, targeter - 226

    HEAVY
    GK Land Raider - EA, smokes - 258
    GK Land Raider - EA, smokes - 258

    TOTAL - 1499 (or 1489)
