is there a reason to take thunder hammer dh termis

my grand masters retinue with have a psycannon dude and some regs
is there a need to take thunder hammer guys
here are my some arguments against
1.the nemisis force weapon is a kick ass piece of equipment s6 striking intative value
    2. i get to take the storm bolter
3.i1 aint that good(thought the 4+ inv save in cc is great it doesnt make up for it)
    here are some arguments for
1.s8 weapons hurt monstrous creatures[and vehicles]
2.storm shield is great vs monstrous creatures(4+ inv)
3.itll be cool to convert and look awesome
4.free shaken result if you hit a vehicle
so in conclusion the thunder hammer man is a giant creature killer
but how useful/less will it be
with the new nids codex it may be a worth while ivestment(ive fought my gm vs h tyrant and tied)

here are the guys that have 6+ toughness
    hive tyrant 6*
    carnifex 6*
    tyrant guard 6*
    talos 7
    wraithord 8
    avatar 6
    ctan 8
    wraiths 6
    tomb spybers 6
    large squigoth 6
    massive squigoth 7
im sure coutless big deamons have +6 toughness
    *7 with bonded carapace

Except that you go last. Chances are you want to go first against MCs anyway if possible (carnifexes, for example). Do you really want to strike AFTER a carnifex?

Honestly, the only real use for a TH GKT is against vehicles, for the S8 and stunning. Against everything else, even MCs, you're probably best keeping the NFW. You get the stormbolter for a few shots before closing in and striking at I.

I *always* take one in a GKT unit when that squad gets about 5 models or larger, but never more than one. It's handy to have versatility in units, for one thing. My three most common foes are Space Wolves, Tyranids, and Iron Warriors. Right there I've got plenty of vehicles and plenty of TMC's to face. Hell, Chaos Dreadnoughts can take an upgrade that boosts them to AV13 - a NFW wouldn't touch that.

I take the TH/SS basically as an insurance policy. You never know when you'll need a bit more Str, really, and it's not like an S8 weapon is a liability (I1 or not, my point stands).

So my opinion is that while it isn't necessary, having one as a backup is a good call.

One thing that Grey Knights Lack is Anti-armor, so equipping one with a TH is a good idea IM(newbie) opintion.

It's a mixed bag. But you gotta love it when a space marine player carefully positions his squad so your Grand Master can't kill his commander/whatever, who gets crushed by a thunder hammer after the GM slaughters half the squad.

im inducting them into a guard force so antitank isnt as much as an issue when you have 3 lascannons and 5 missle launchers

well aside from that its just an increased strength weapon, good for insta killing and wounding tough creatures and such, although not much will escape the force weapons in the first place :p

I stand with mEGA on this, and if you don't you should, because he's usually right about this sort of thing. I have ONE TH/SS GKT in my GM's retinue, for potential anti-armor. And he looks even badder-assed than regular ones do.

I would use Hammerhand! The oppent wont know what there getting into. Use it as a finisher for tough foes! Best yet, dont strike with an initiative of "1", you dont lose 2 storm bolter shots, if never use it, you never use it. but thunder hammer will make a GKT useless at like 20".

My GKT army has a definate lack of anti-armor at anything below 1850pts, however you can equip Justicars with Melta-Bombs for 5pts which I would think as a relatively cheap way to keep your termies hitting at their regular Init while still having a decent way to take out armor, supposing you don't take a Las-Can/Missle Dreadnought(140pts) to take care of them before they get close. I'm just a huge fan of NFW but I would think that it's ultimately up to you.
