Wanting to start a DoC army. Read through the book and I've started off with the units I like the most (skulltaker, horrors and bloodcrusher). From there tried to make a casual list that I can build from and make bigger. I want to make it competitive, so comments and changes are appreciated.
The list is:
Herald of Tzeentch, Lore of Tzeentch
38x Pink Horrors, full command
30x Bloodletters, full command
TOTAL Points: 1491
Take out skulltaker because he is gay and speical characters are gay.....replace him with a herald with armor plus you get hatred for your bloodletters unit anyway. If you dont mind putting in some slaanesh stuff in there put in 2 fiends instead of the bloodcrushers because 2 fiends are so much betters then 1 bloodcrusher
1 lone bloodcrusher isn't really going to do anything for ya. you could drop it and add in 2 more flamers or up the bloodletter squad. you could drop skull taker for a herald of khorne with the firestorm blade, aok and put it in the unit of bloodletters, giving them hatred. that would free up a few points. with that you could add more into your bloodletter unit. the more the better.
with the pink horrors, i know that the more your have the better caster they are, but you could add in 1 more with the herald and you would have a horde of 40. takes more time to tear them down with shots and miscasts. you could add in the icon of sorcery to give your pink horrors the extra +1 to casting. helps alot.
You just proved my point saying that special characters destroy. That's why they are gay, and most people use them just because they are good. I only use 1 out of my 5 armies because it fits my theme. Yeah if you have a theme use them, it gives your army more character, but he doesnt have a theme. But personally I like to make semi-competitive lists and just out play my opponent. That's when you KNOW you are better then your opponent.
well no matter what if you outplay your opponent with special characters or not you are always better than your opponent, or they just made really bad mistakes. either way we both have our preferences. sorry for the disruption. i am like you, i do only use them when i have to but they do make a difference.
As far as the list goes, a single bloodcrusher may not be of much use. A single fiend on the other hand, could prove useful. It could easily hunt lone characters and war machines. It could even do considerable damage to small units of fast cav. and skirmishers. Move 10 allows it to be where you need it. ASF and high initiative means that you will often re-roll missed to hit rolls.
