I'm just wondering... How would we be able to defeat Tyrion, other than through static res? His 0+ save combined(mounted and his 1+ save from his armour) with a 4+ ward and regen, and flame immunity makes him probably the hardest model in WHFB. How would we take him out?
I'm wondering about this as my younger brother has a bunch of high elves and he seems to be a big fan of Tyrion and will probably get the model for if he ever wants to do a 2000 point game. I've been trying to figure out what to use, but so far the only things I can think of are nurgle toughness based spells, but I'm not sure how effective those would be with Tyrion also having MR2. Tyrion can take a full round of attacks from a BT or a Kipper with no trouble at all. A GUO might be able to hurt him with a balesword, but thats all I can think of. Between the immunity to flaming attacks and MR 2, I'm not sure if its even worth considering a LoC.
So how would we take on whats probably the hardest model in all of WHFB?

Skulltaker on Juggernaught. Get the charge and hope for KB on +5 in then challenge. Otherwise a KoS with Etherblade and some other odds and ends. Either way you still have the +4 ward and regen to eat through. BT with Axe of Khorn could also try for KB but it would be better with Skulltaker. Otherwise you beat such a model by parking your general within 12" and charging units of Furies into him and trying him up for most of the game while you kill the rest of his army, which wont be large if he has Tyrion along.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
Yeah, I'm also thinking anything that can negate armour, then it's upto the dice.
IIRC, there is a GD gift that allows no armour saves and inflicts d6 wounds. Just need to get ONE through...two max.
Wish I could help more, but i haven't got the samn book yet.ARG!
I think you're forgetting that he's T3. 4's to hit, 3-2's to wound. He's got to fail some of them. I know I would.
its not hitting and wounding that is the problem...
Lets say you are STR 6. he's still got a 3+,4+,4+ and 4 wounds to get through. Yes... EVENTUALLY you will kill him... but it will take far too long. Killing Blow is definately the way to go.
well still a noob to fantasy but would a str 8 or higher attacks inta kill him? If so a lucky role on the bolt of change would really make your day 2D6 hits at D6 + 4 S would be a nice killing technique
ehm as you would have seen if you read my message I didn't know if it applied but that's why I asked so rork pls give consructive critisism instead of pointing out the obvious
I think all he was saying was to check your rulebook, rather than just spam LO. It;s fine being a 'noob', we were all one, just make sure you check out rules before posting )particulary in the rule query forums)
KeithB, I think you'd still have to be pretty darn lucky, evenm with KB. You just wont get enough of them, but then, you only need onr to get through....
Ill help more on this once I get the book fellaz...
Be sure to ask yourself "Does this rule exist in fantasy?" before trying to use it. Assumptions mean you can come unstuck. Every once in a while I do state the obvious to get people to remember one obvious truth - your questions and uncertainties are answered by the rulebook.
My advice was, and still is, to check the rulebook first. It does help, honest .
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
