I am thinking of using Karios and he gets 8 spells total 4 from life, heaven, light, metal and 4 from the other lores. Any suggestions for what spells to pick? I know some spells are situational but any "must haves"? Here's what I came up with:
Life - Howler wind
Heaven - 2nd sign, vranon's tbolt, comet
metal - Spirit of forge(situational)
Death - steal soul
beasts - bear's anger
shadow - pit of shades(situational)
fire - conflag of doom (combo with 2nd sign cast from other wizards)
wall of fire (situational against mobs)
Any suggestions? I think people would agree vranon's tbolt and comet are no brainers for their usefulness....
Can he even mix lores? I don't have the book on me, but hey, I'll input anyway.
Spells I'd consider:
Beasts - Beast Cowers. Great for holding up Dragons and such, since Kairos doesn't want to see combat anyway.
Beast - Hunters Spear. Give Heavy Cav a hard time with a flying bolt thrower.
Death - The -3 LD one. Great in combo with Terror. Kairos can wipe out units in 'combat' without even seeing any.
Shaddow - Steed of Shaddows. Nah, just kidding!
Thats all off the top of my head. Consider Beasts though. Though some of the spells are situational, they are really good when you need them.
I think it depends on your army and your opponents. For example if you had a fast army with flesh hounds and fiends you could take unseen lurker and wolf hunts, combined with glean magic if your opponent has any movement spells (eg. wild hunt, waaagh, van hels) for multiple 1st turn charges.
You could take millions of magic missiles if you have a shooty, zappy army (eg. fireball, burning head, fiery blast, crows feast, hunter's spear, forked lightning, uranon's thunder bolt, burning gaze, dark hand of death, wind of death).
You can pick certain life spells depending on the terrain (eg. master of wood or stone, mistress of the marsh).
The beauty of kairos is his versitility.
Good luck using him.
I see Kairos as a great support character, although he takes a Lord choice but with the vast selection of spells available to him, it's hard to choose a definite role.
Since you have to nominate ONE head to cast per magic phase, and both head knows the Tzeentch Spell, I think it's wise to give him the supportive spells from the BRB lores.. since Tzeentch magic is probably the most destructive spell available already.
Head One: Active Support Spells
Beast - Wolf Hunt
Death - Doom & Darkness
Fire - Burning Head
Shadow - Pit of Shade
Wolf Hunt and Pit of Shade are situational and may be used if the other 2 spells arent so effective at the moment. Doom & Darkness and Burning Head are a great combo to cause a unit to flee right off the bat, so it's another situational spell where you would need it to happen.
Head Two: Passive Support Spells
Heaven - Second Sign of Amul
Light - Dazzling Brightness
Metal - Law of Gold
Life - The Howler Wind
The second head provides the overall army protection such as the Second Sign of Amul (D3 rerolls), Dazzling Brightness, and The Howler Wind. Law of Gold is great for pissing other players off.. especially when Tyrion loses his magic S7 weapon or the 1+ save Armour.
Bear's Anger! Or that Flaming Sword thing! Kairos can combat it with the best of them! (well, not die at least...)
Ha i would laugh myself silly if you cast Bear's Anger on fateweaver i grantee you i wont be wasting my dispel dice on that
I find Kairos so overpoewred I decided not to take him and went with a normal LOC instead. The 3+ ward puts him a bit OTT IMO. He basicly does not need to fear warmachines. On the other hand, anyone takes in Teclis and all bets are off.
however for his spells here is my choice
law of gold
doom and darkness
