Welcome to Librarium Online!
So, can someone mention what uses Nurglings have and why?
well i think they have couple of uses:
1. as scouts they can prevent march and target archers etc.
2. They are strong enough to hunt lone characters especially they got the poison and fear - they could potentially "scare" the char away by outnumbering.
3. If I have a "tallyman list" I would include these guys-I will have them hunting for easykills(archers, peseants, skeletons etc.) to rack up on the tally and when my slow nurgle forces finally get into first round of combat they will be able to (hopefully) enjoy the poison bonus.
Nurglings have a few uses, mostly centered around mono-Nurgle lists.
The biggest bonus to them is that they are the only unit in the Daemon army that has the Scout rule so march blocking and deployment harrasment come to mind as their chief uses.
They also have poisoned attacks so they can actually be very effective vs monsters like giants or dragons which rely on T rather than armour to protect them from attack. (This effect can be multiplied in an Epidemius army where all those Nurlings poisoned attacks will start going on a +4 rather than a +6)
Also due to their scout rule they are a good unit to hunt war machines. Even if they don't kill a crew they can tie them up for the turns it takes your slow nurgle army to come to grips.
The other interesting thing about Nurglings is that they are the one unit we can 'raise'. A Herald of Nurgle, Daemon Prince or a Great Unclean One can be given Nurgling infestation which will add a nurgling base to any Nurgling unit nearby on any roll better than a one. This means you could lock your Nurglings into combat with an uber combat unit indefinetly if your infestation character is nearby adding to their numbers every turn to replace losses. There are some interesting possibilities in this venue but I haven't looked to closely as I am not really interested in playing Nurgle lists.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
Thanks guys, you've both helped a lot. Rep away! Except for Bonzi...it's too soon still from last time!
A good use I found for them was scouting them in a wood (within 2 inches so they can see), not moving them at all so my opponent forgets about them, them charging them into a units rear with my PB in the front. That +2 combat res really helps to win combat and auto win because of out numbering. Or you could float them around behind combat to destroy fleeing units. Furies can also do this but in the games I've played with both my nurglings have been far more easy to forget about becasue you don't have to move them and they hide in the woods. I've used this tactic 3 times succesfully.
They can be flankers they can add numbers to a combat. Plus they will draw attention every time you pop a nurgle base out. It is something they can not stop just let it happen so this alone will draw attention.
