Hey guys. What do you think the best build for a Lord of Change is?
Personally I think level 4 wizard is a must. Magic is the whole point of Tz and it’s the cheapest l4 wiz in the book.
For gifts I lean towards Will of Tz, it combines some of the advantages of dark magistrar and two heads for one cost.
The thing I am really torn on is Power Vortex vs Master of Sorc. Master gives such a nice flexibility but Vortex helps my poor heralds. As my heralds have mastery I choose Vortex in the end.
Tell me about your favorite LOC builds!
I like the Will+Vortex too. The LoC makes best use of the Lore of Tzeentch with all its high casting values, while the Vortex either gets a Boon off or just helps the Herald(s) do their thang.
Master of Sorcery is interesting for all the high casting value spells you may want to get off, but I just love Bolt of Change too much to pass it up.
Level 4 is a no brainer as far as I'm concerned, though a Level 2 with Master of Sorcery would be a cheap GD option if you take more Heralds and/or Blue Scribes.

Master of Sorcery is sub-optimal for the LoC. He knows all the Tzeentch spells anyway, so unless you're really looking to use other lores with some regularity you don't need to take it for him.
Since he's the main way to get the high level Tzeentch spells off, I'd say it's not really worth investing in over the other gifts mentioned above.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
I would consider Tzeentch's will mandetory for the LOC. You don't want a badly timed miscast to ruin your day, and the ability to re-roll a low-strength or low hit BOC is pretty useful. I think that Will+Vortex is probably the best way to go.

I usually just go Tzeench's Will myself unless I am playing bigger games. But it seems pretty much set in stone that Tzeench's Will is almost mandatory for a Lord of Change.
Basically life sucks, there is only war and you're probably gonna get eaten by Tyranids, have fun.
Does the LOC really need to be level 4? I ask this because
A. The LOC already gets the entire lore of tz so the extra level does not matter as much.
B. The LOC gets boon of tz so he is not generally as pressed for power dice as others.
boon of tzeentch can be dispelled, and lvl 3 wizard means you can only use a max of 4 dice on a casting attempt.... when you may want to cast with 5 instead
I have been using the will/votex combo but i only use a lvl3 to make him a round 600pts
Tonight in going to use twin heads/dark magester combo +2 to cast means you are using less dice anyway (only needing 3 dice to cast bolt of change for example)
