I was wondering what people think the best size for a unit of Fiends of Slaanesh is? I think that running a unit three wide makes them big enough to remain a US5 unit (you would need to kill two to make them US3) to get flank charges in, and even good enough to take lighter units on head-on. What do other people think?
3 is probably best. I am running a list that relies heavely on them so I am running them 4 wide.
Single fiends are good harrasment troops if you have the rare slots to spare.
I haven't tried them, but I was thinking 2 would be best. They are 2 models wide, so if you have 3 then they're 6 models wide which harms maneuverability (or so I've heard). At 2 models you can still break units with a flank charge and you can take 2 units of 2 for 10 more points than 3 bloodcrushers.

i have some fiends models but everytime i think about using them i looked at my pile of flamers and chose those instead... When my flamers fail me in one game that will be the time i put in the fiends. And imho fiends are better used in 40k than fantasy.
Great flanking/support unit, the movement 10 and soporific musk meak them great for running down units which have autobroken from fear!
very good unit greatly improved now. i also own mountains of old models i repainted days ago , and 17 flamers want to use, but i always been fascinated by fiends. now they founded they're role as small units breakers .useful
I like running them in 2's as well. They get maximum maneuverability and a decent amount of attacks. They've done well for me at that size.
No, I don't have any wool.
I go with the majority here. Two is the optimum size for the role that Fiends are best at which is flanking/missle troops/war machines. Sure 3 is very hard to knock belowe rank negation levels, but it is also a very wide and unwieldly size, making flanking difficult. Against war machines and the flanks of smaller units you wont even be able to get the third Fiend in base to base with the enemy and that is wasted points when that happens. Also remember, while 2 Fiends only need to lose 1 model to no longer negate ranks, that 1 model represents 3 wounds at T4 and a +5WS.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
