Greetings mortals, ==Me== here.
Daemons have captured ==My== fancy and I'm looking to expand ==My== collection.
I currently have:
10 Bloodletters with full command
It isn't much, but between them Orks, Marines, and Skaven it's all I've got. But, after using them in proxy games I'm inspired to pick up more (at least 1000 points for both systems).
Here's where you come in. What would you recommend to build up a solid 1000 points that can be used successfully (not WAAC, but viable and fun)? And, for bonus points, it has to be on the cheap (around $100 ).
I was thinking a box of Dryads for Horrors and maybe a Herald, another box of Bloodletters or Daemonettes, and some Hounds to top it off. Perhaps some Nurgle? Special characters?
So, what do you say LO, will you help ==Me== lay waste to the mortal realm?

Flesh hounds of Khorne. Speedy things that pack quite a punch.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Flesh Hounds is a good suggestion. I'd also look into who's going to lead the army. From the looks of it, a Herald of Khorne would be good, and tag him along with the Bloodletters or Hounds, depending on who you're playing. Tzeentch would be good too, assuming you add those Horrors. 5-7 powerdice at 1K is pretty good.
Also expanding you're Flamers to 6 would rock at 1k. I mean, I rocks at 2.25k!
As for 10 buck worth os models....I'm assuming US$.....maybe make em outta Playdo? Doubt 10 bucks will get you far, sorry
Ugh, thrice damned smileys, I meant $100
So Flesh Hounds are pretty much a must, they're very useful in both games and the models are luverly.
I know I want a Herald of Tzeentch, but not sure on the Horrors, especially if he'll be flying. I could just take Daemonettes and 'letters for cheap plastic Core.
I've found that a 10 man unit of horrors can be useful in many many ways. First, they provide a dispel and power dice, as well as another chance to cast a magic missile. In addition, they make a decent protection unit when your Herald needs a little protection, and he in turn makes them a better protection unit considering they can take a charge and possibly not fall apart.
Furies are also a must, but the models aren't really around unless you want to pay $6/model, which I don't. I suggest eBay if you want furies. I got 10 for around $35.
As people have already said, Hounds are almost mandatory.
I've found that 'letters make great core, as most people try to avoid them rather than getting into combat with them. When I play with 'nettes, however, my luck runs out quick. I make 1-2 wounds on T3 opponents before saves usually, but that's not average for them of course. I just suck at rolling with Daemonettes. They also don't really seem that great without having a Slaaneshi Herald in the unit, which is when they really shine. I like to take a few just on the off chance I'll face Swordmasters or White Lions. :p
No, I don't have any wool.

Maybe it would be a good idea to get two boxes of flesh hounds as they're solid in both fantasy and 40K. A for furies, does your GW sometimes have auctions? I managed to get 25 of them for $32 CDN at one before. (the other bag of 25 went for $62-> me and the other guy had pumped it up since we had thought there was only one bag. I luckily lost that bag and got the cheaper one).
40K armies: Tyranids (2001), Space Wolves (2008), Sisters of Battle (2011)
Current Rep: 1337
So I'm thinking of picking up another box of Bloodletters, 2 boxes of Hounds, a box of Dryads and either a HoK on Jugger or some Furies.
That'll give ==Me== around 1000 points, looking something like this:
Herald of Khorne-Obsidian Armor, Jugger
Herald of Tzeentch-Master of Sorcery, Winged Horror
16 Bloodletters-full command
If I can't pick up a Jugger I'll have the Herald on foot and add another Bloodletter.
I like the list. It looks quite similar to what I have a 1k. In fact, if you mess around with the Horrors and 'Letters, you've got my 1k Votewar list, except the Khorne Herald only has AoK.
I love the character-killer in 1k. Kudos
