Beasts of Chaos
So I was just wondering which armys everyone else has the hardest time dealing with and why?
Deamons are our own worst enemies.
I've found Lizardmen to be very effective against Demons with the exception of Khorne heavy demons which they do mediocre. Sacred hosts of Tepok Lizardmen are even better, as the lore of light opens up for the skink Priest and with all the extra dispel dice Demon will have a hard time casting magic against lizards, even without a Slann.
Oldblood with a blade of realities and perhaps a banehead can devastate any demon on the field and when combined with a Carnosaur you can kiss your greater daemons good bye.
Bretonnia, I reckon. A normal lance of nine KotR inflicts seven S6, WS4 and six S3 WS3 hits, which, even for Nurgle, is going to hurt.
And they have that damn ward save! Gah! "Baha, I'm a bloodletter! I hit you on threes, wound you on twos... and thus grant you a 5+ ward. Drat."
Playing both armies though, Fiends or Hounds are PAINFUL when flanked by them, such a wide flank...
The toughest matches I've had so far have been against O&G, primarily. Their static combat res can get them out of a jam and Orcs take down most daemons fairly effectively (for half the cost of the daemon). I've had some very bloody matches against them.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
I would like to say bretonnia first and then ogres. I played brettonia 5 times(close though) and lost 5. One time it was bad luck though. I know other armies have problem with their armor+ward too but I think the inability to flee as charge reaction really hurts. Plus i have faced "all knights" thus far so not sure if that is supposed to be cheesy army setup or not...
Ogres i played once and barely beat but they were really tough to kill with high T and 3 wounds. What that translates into is they will kill quite a bit of troops and i need to do 3 wounds to not get 3-4 attacks back...
I would think that Vampire Counts would be one of the harder for you daemon players to beat.
Solid Combat units
Unbreakable, ItP units
Ability to raise their casualties back and exceed a units original size.
All makes for an army that can easily CR deamons to death. Back when I played Vampires I had units of skeletons that started with 6-7 CR, and that was before any combat or raising the unit bigger or anything.
Nothings more annoying than getting your awesome GD bogged down in a neverending tide of zombies also.

I really don't find Vampire Counts that hard, I don't think I've lost a game yet to them. Sure, They outnumber you and can't flee, but you'll easily make up those combat resolution points back by just killing them.
Warriors of Chaos, since I will soon be commanding them.
Even if you can beat that kind of static CR (harder if you play MSU daemons) the average VC list is quite magic heavy, meaning they just restore the wounds you inflicted and then some.
from the couple Daemon Vs. VC matches I have seen, even a mediocrely played VC army can match or beat a daemon army. Single dice IoN's really throw their weight around
