I dont think i saw any battle reports against brets and I am about to face a bret army the 6th time and I dont want that to be another loss so I am wondering if there are any tactics that could help me out... He will probably be brining:
3 pegasus knights
3-4 knights of realm
2 heroes and 1 priestess with scrolls
the rest points maybe more knights
I tried Bloodthirster and it had mixed results. Flamers simply dont make much of a dent on their 2+and 6+. Magic was the same and he dispels scrolls the big damage ones. I tried huge chunks of bloodletters and he basically charge through them and subsequent rounds he still saves on 4+/5+... haven't tried plaguebearers yet though. Hounds been ok but with so many of his knights he can just charge the hounds head on to prevent flank help from them. I thought about going:
Kairos, 2 tzeentch heralds and herald nurgle with hellfire banner. 10/1 bound
GUO nurgle staff, epidemius, 2 L1 nurgle heralds w/ nurgle staff and hellfire banner. 3 units of plaguebearers.8/4 bounds
1st choice i can blast him with magic more and hopefully get him down a bit before he comes down on me. 2nd army is more waiting for him to get to me while blasting away with magic. hopefully once he gets close i can kill enough for 4+ poison and i drew out enough scrolls that I can successfully cast miasma to lessen the damage from his initial attack. any suggestions?
When fighting Bretonians it is important to remember two of their main weaknesses. The first is that they are just pathetic Str 3 humans. If they don't get the charge they are nearly useless. The second thing to remember is that Bretonians are very fast...but only in a straight line. Their manuverability is sub par, if you can get in with them and mix it up they are in trouble.
There is basically two general ways to beat Bretonians.
#1. Be a rock. Stack up static CR and let his lances bounce off. Nurgle units with PB's would be the prefect units to do this. T4 + Regen + Ward Save = win
#2. Be faster than they are. Bretonians true weakness is their very human statline. If they don't get the charge they are nothing more than Str 3 losers who can't kill squat. You would do this with Bloodcrushers, Fiends, Flesh Hounds, and Seekers. Something to think about would be trying a Daemon Prince (he's not a large target!) with Wings and an Etherblade. As long as you get the charge you should have no problems carving up a unit of knights. A couple units of marchblocking Furies would also make his lance formations very hard to manuver.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
I guess the CR might be better if i just sit back and wait for the charge to come to me while blasting him with magic. going to him I have to kill him at the charge or get annihlated by his other charges. their armor really helps them.... I had hounds charge him but even with hounds he gets 4+/5+ and then charge me with his other guys and kill me.
