    You having problems with warmachines..

    Hi i'm Tom (first time poster long time lurker)
    i've been flicking through our fairly new and shiny daemon army book and i think i have found a way of killing war machines in the first turn not buy magic or shooting but by the daemons natural ally... combat. Firstly it states in the rule book that all models with the fly rules count as unit strength 1 unless their flying cavalry. Then take your daemon prince give him level 1 or 2 your choice winged horror, immortal fury and soul hunger. Then take lore of shaddows and choose to have steed of shaddows. So long as you cast it you have a daemon prince that can do 40 inches in a turn rerolling failed hits and wounds.
    Hope this helps any daemon player struggleing with warmachines.

    Uhm don't you use 'Steed of Shadows' to make your move to kill warmachines? That is magic is it not? Your opponent can still dispel it and than you can't get to those warmachines...

    And as you have already moved to the middle of the table with your normal movement, then you just became a target practice Or am I misinterpeting your tactic? hehe

    You may want to re-read the description of Steed of Shadows.

    Specifically the bit that says "Unit Strength 1".

    Wouldn't furies be cheaper. I know it'll happen in turnr 2 but I'm not keen on Daemon Princes.

    To be honest war machines are not that difficult for a daemons army for a few reasons.

    #1. 5 Furies > 1 Daemon Prince. For 60 points you can do in two turns what it costs you 375+ for a DP to maybe do in one.

    #2. Herald of Tzeentch + Winged Horror + MoS (Death Magic). 20" movement +24" 2d6 magic missles, + d6 magic missles = destroyed war machines and is still cheaper than a DP.

    #3. Lone Fiend. Again far cheaper than a DP.

    #4. 5 Seekers. More costly than lone fiend but still cheaper than a DP.
    The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.

    The DP is not unit strength 1, as you assume. It's amonster, and so has US4, even though it can fly. This is staed in the book anyway, just before the bestiary.

    Furies, Hounds and Fiends are all better ways to deal with Warmachines. Even my BT will charge, since it'll keep him alive and place him behind enemy lines.
