I have a Hordes of Chaos (warriors of chaos now that its all mortals) army, and people keep telling me to do Daemons, yet can't give me reasons why Daemons are better than Mortals. Can anyone here?
There are several reasons to take one army over the other. I like Daemons better because their fluff is just better. How can you argue with physical manifestations of the chaos gods bent on total destruction of the mortal realm? In game terms, daemons all have fear and ward saves, and each of the four factions do something, and do it better than anyone else. Nurgle doesn't die, Slaanesh controls the movement phase with his siren songs and high movement, as well as being more that compotent at dispatching large masses of cheap troops. Tzeentch has horrors, that count as wizards in the core units, as well as the flamers and master of sorcerery. Khorne, well, khorne kills anything that bleeds in close combat. Not only that, but you can mix and match them, covering your weakneses and exploiting those of your opponents. We also have greater Daemons, massive engines of death that can destroy small armies all by themselves. Now, mortals may have bad ass lords, but greater daemons are in a whole different league.
I hope this helps! Leave the shadows and join us in the true darkness!
I'm too lazy to come up with a witty sig.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
daemons have more variety, strategy wise, and depending on who you take and how you like to run your army you can make them quite versatile, dominating any part of the game you desire, where as the mortals are all about combat and nothing else, plus we have big scary mo foes and any lore we want thanks to tzeentch.
here in the realm of the daemons, its all good.
You shoudnt go daemons unless you love cheese so much you sweat it, WoC are a brilliant force with many different varieties of troops
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
Woc might be brilliant but DOC are UBER brilliant with even more varietes and other options of army style and if you want cheese you can build it but don't have to.
You could always collect both like i do i started of with hordes of chaos aswell and got a couple of units of deamons and greater deaomns and stuff to go with my mortals so when they split the books while i had a smaller force of both armys i then started to collect both and while you cant incorperate them into one army they easly can ally in larger games i recently had a 4000 point game with 2000 of each vs dwarfs they worked wounders with each other so i absolutly masscared them

I like draco's option, considering you have a mortals army already (this isn't a contest guys, though since we all serve dark gods here I'm not suprised we jumped at a chance to have one)
Well, to give you a reason to collect daemons that isn't entirely based on what they do game wise, they are great fun to collect because they looks cool, and you never really get bored of the army since if you get bored with what your painting you can simply switch to a unit of a different god and then paint something completely different. After painting all those ranks of armored troops, it woiuld be a nice change of pace for you.
We also have greater daemons, and as much as I wish points would allow us to use the more, they are great fun to have. The best thing is that if you don't want the GW version for cost/look reasons, these bad boys get a ton of love with alternative models out there. Heck, just looking through some forgoeworld or ultraforge alternatives may give you inspiration to start taking them right now.
On top of all that, daemons are expecting a new wave of minis to come out some time this year. So you can slowly build up the army now with the new models released with the army book, and then fill in the rest with the cheaper plastics that are coming.
because all you need to do with Daemons is put the models on the table and you win..
