OK I have two Khorne Heralds, one Juggernaut mounted, one on foot. I want 1 to be an army general of a 1000 point and 1500 point army. How should I tool them up, should I include both, which one should be the general, should they join a unit etc. etc.
The rest of the army is very Khorne with two large chunks of Bloodletters supported by two more Flesh Hound units.
I prefer Obsidian Armour on my mounted Herald, and using him as a BSB with the banner of Unholy Victory. This makes him very survivable and he also adds 2-4 combat res to a given battle not including wounds. I like to stuff him in a unit of 'Letters with the banner of Endless war so they can get the charge and decimate the opponent. Needless to say, the unit destroys most anything it charges.
I play HE ALOT, so I tend to stay away from the firestorm blade as it gives enemy characters immunity to all his attacks.
No, I don't have any wool.
Jugger and Obsidian Armor is ==My== standard build for a BSB Herald. I give him the Sundering banner if I need the extra magic protection, otherwise it's Unholy Victory or nothing.
I don't use Heralds on foot much, lack of protection the typical culprit. If I were to, Armor of Khorne is a must, Obsidian too. A Firestorm Blade doesn't hurt either.

The others gave good ideas if you are looking for the Herald as a BSB. If you are looking for the general I prefer the Jugger, Armor of Khorne, and Firestorm Blade. Put him in a unit of Letters for war machine protection and let him go to town. One other advantage to Firestorm Blade is it lets you crack chariots if you need to. As BlackSheep mentioned, if you play against HE you may want to swap out Firestorm Blade for something else.
