I see a lot of lists for Daemons and they tend to feature Khorne and Tzeentch. I don't like Slanessh anyway but Nurgle have funky models, yet very few lists if any seem to have their units or even more rarely do I see pure Nurgle lists in Fantasy.
Is there a reason for this I'm not aware of? Are Nurgle just too slow and horrible in Fantasy or perhaps are Tzeentch and Khorne too hard?
Nurgle is plenty good in Fantasy. Plaguebearers with Heralds are stupidly hard to kill, the GUO is an unkillable monster, Nurglings are unbreakable scouting poison swarms, and Beasts laugh at artillery. Their biggest problem is slow movement and lack of real armor busters beyond the GUO.
Epidemius isn't as necessary in a Fantasy list as he is in 40k, because Heralds provide the all-to-necessary locus and can get nasty stuff like noxious vapors and the Staff of Nurgle.
The main problem as mentioned before is their speed. Back when the Nurgle daemon list had chariots and cavalry this was not an issue but now it really hurts.
Yeah coz most new armies are too fast! Dark Elves are hard enough as it is when I play with VC been slow, but Nurgle I bet would get owned by never been able to catch them!
You can't catch them, but they can't do anything to hurt you. T4, 5+ ward and Regen is stupidly hard to kill after all
Use magic, Furies, and Nurglings to hinder his movement and catch those speedy things you hate so much.
This is true. Your units are really meant to be tar pits that can take a lot of punishment. The only problem is finding something to deal with the heavily armoured stuff aside from a Great Unclean One.
I actually just made a list last night that I'm pretty proud of, ill post it in the army list forums and then edit in a link here. Let me know what you guys think.

I think the reason you see so much Khone and Tzeentch is because they are more straightforward to play. Playing Khorne? Rush the opponent and pound him with your awesome CC. Playing Tzeentch? Stand back and pound them with your overwhelming magic power. Playing Nurgle and Slaanesh requires more thought and finesse, things many players either don't have or just don't want to use.
Actually, I think that Nurgle is one of the more playable single god armies. They have all the avenues covered: good CC with plaguebearers w/ Herald, Nurglings can scout to get behind enemies(furies can be used for this as well), GUO can be a lev. 4 and Heralds can still get the awesome first spell in Nurgle's Lore, and if you take Ku'Gath you have one of the only ranged attacks in the book.
All in all, I think that Nurgle can be used alone to make a fairly balanced and effective list. I still prefer using elements from all the gods but Nurgle can be used on his own effectively
