Bloodcrushers - are they any good or is the points better spent on x2 Flesh Hounds?
Looks like an expensive retinue for a Herald of Khorne but never used them so don't know
I used a unit of three for a while, and found they generally underperformed compared to Flesh Hounds.
I've heard of people having success using a herald in there, though. I suspect it's a matter of all or nothing with them - either pump as many upgrades in as possible, or just don't bother.
Personally I'd have 5 Flesh hounds - Cheaper than 3 'crushers, 4 more wounds (and as a result you need to inflict 6 wounds to drop them to US4), faster and give you some points to play around with for unit upgrades.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
I have used a single bonecrusher with some succes in the past in small battles, they pack quite a punch and will beat most weak units. I did protect the bloodcrusher by hiding behind my plaguebearers though.
Running with a Herald on a jugger I can see it being quite a hard hitting unit compared to flesh hounds, but more vulnerable. Yes they get a 4+ armour save, but the Flesh Hounds also have the Magic resistance 3 and more wounds per point.
That said, the Blood Crushers do look nice and I am shallow on the inside
they work great for me, running them with skulltaker on a jugger
Running a Herald in there makes them mean as, and they have kicked ass in the name of Khorne for me
Even without a Herald (I put him inside Flesh Hounds when fighting magic heavy lists), 3 of them managed to beat down somehting like 20 Sarus. +1 Strength and Killing Blow makes so much of a difference against T4 troops, as does a Banner and the Banner of extra charge.
Despite that, I'd say if you've got plenty of Flesh Hounds already, Crushers are a good addition. If you're short on Hounds, get more Hounds. if you're short on Furies, get more Furies. Things is, Crushers are more frail, so can end up being smashed up a bit (I've charged Minotaurs before, and come off second best...with a Herald!), so it's good to have these units to fall back on when it does happen (and it will, since they hit so hard, the enemy will generally want to get rid of them).
I also managed to convert mine, using platic 'letters and the steeds from Chaos Knights. If you're gonna buy the metal crushers, perhaps proxy them first, they do cost a bit....

While not esp relavent to the discussion it should be bared in mind that while they are worse then Flesh Hounds in WFB point for point, they are considerably better in 40k in which Flesh Hounds are decidely average units. If your have or are building a dual system army Bloodrcrushers are a solid option (not as good as flamers, but then flamers are cheesy in both WFB and 40k). Otherwise it would be cheaper both pt wise and financially to stick to Fleshhounds.
Key things for an Ork to remember in the heat of battle:
Always remember to pillage BEFORE you burn
When the pin is pulled, Mr. Stickbomb is not our friend
When in doubt empty the magazine.
And most importantly AIM towards the Enemy.
