So what are peoples opinions on the most friendly way to run daemons? Would an "all-god" list lead by a herald of each god be the way? Or a mono-god list (not tzeentch)? I like the idea of an all khorne list. I have a bunch of daemons lying around and would like to put them on the table without having to listen to too much moans and groans. Thanks!
Run a mix of the gods. Just today I mopped up a warriors of chaos army with my 3 god build. No lord, just 3 heralds with my Tzeentch as my general flying around blowing stuff up.
You may hear a moan or groan but nobody can call you cheesy and you can take advantage of all their strengths. Nurgle for tarpit. Tzeentch for power/dispell dice. Khorn for smacking things around. You just gotta walk the fine line with the Tzeentch. Im running 2 units of 10 pinkies + Herald as general + flamers + blue scribes and thats it. Still a little Tzeentch heavy in a 2250 build but not bad really. Go nurgle heavy and you'll be mighty tough to kill, or Khorn is fun if you just want to point you guys at a target and say "KILL".
Im still noob status but thats my opinion haha...
That's kinda what I was thinking, as running my khorne list would put a bunch of flesh hounds and bloodcrushers on the table, which no one likes to see . Does anyone think that using the masque, epidemus and skulltaker models as heralds would cause any grief if I explained to my opponent what they are?
using the special character models (as is) as heralds is fine in my eyes, to make it more apparent you would only have to do a tiny bit of converting. For making a balanced list, no one could complain giving a quarter of points to each god. Mono of anything apart from tzeentch has enough weakness for your opponent to exploit, especially slaanesh. I would personally stay away from greater daemons apart from the KoS in mono slaanesh, but that's not really tuning your list down, it just seems like it to opponents.
Units of basic infantry without heralds are alright. That's probably the least powerful way of running daemons in my opinion.

Posting and You
Hey, I was basically asking this question in my other post
http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...-cheesy-2.html (Are Daemons Cheesy?)
I find them fun to play and tinker with no matter what anyone says. Using any greater daemon is usually enough to cause my opponents to groan and whine (while they are using 3 stegadons and a carnasaur or 2 dragons I might add) but a herald for each God and a bunch of units for each works great to make a complex and fun list.
I like to go with the old realms of chaos book idea where you split the list up into heros and their retinues for fluff purposes. I don't have any Slaanesh but I have a HoT who leads some Horrors and Flamers, a HoK who runs his Jugger with packs of Fleshhounds, and a HoN who has his elite guard of Plaguebearers who all caught nurgles rot with him and came back to fight by his side.
Once I explain the fluff people usually switch over from groaning to thinking its pretty cool...until I beat them and then I'm cheesy again.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross the road without anyone questioning its intentions.
Could always use a interesting theme.
Run units no bigger then 15,
no heros in units
no heros of the same chaos brand units you field!
i.e. HoK leading an army of everything not khorne or tzeentch leeding non tzeentch
no magic upgraded wizard levels on heros that can.
just some idears as i flipped through the codex thinking 'that's cool, so don't do that'
what did tzeench ever do to you?tzeench is evil, horrific, mutasiosh(thats not a word=P but anyway..)and has more magic than the slann why wouldnt you want to use him?
anyway could someone help me decide should i get a bloodthirster with awsome strength(7 strength 10 hits=D)for 525 points or something cheaper
for 2000 points
if you want it to be fun, just give him dark insanity. that's fun times.
