This is the start of a new series, that will hopefully bring new ideas and tactics to the forums. Each week, a new topic will be posted up about a different unit in the army book. This gives you your chance to discuss the unit to its fullest. So, please leave your comment!
This week's topic is - Skull Taker
How good of a character is he? Do you mount him at all? How is he best used?
Khornes Champion. Blooded Wanderer. Slayer Of Kings.
he is a must have on a juggernaut. 200pts and he will make the killing blow on any creature size in a challenge
Skulls for the skull Throne!
He is too awesome for the cost. Put him on a Jugger and he gets a good save and his killing blow ability gives him a very good chance of killing anything he goes up against many times over. He needs to be at least 50 points more expensive because as is he is basically the same cost as a herald.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross the road without anyone questioning its intentions.
Put him beside a HofN with Noxious Fumes, in a unit of Plague Bearers with the re-roll to wound banner and he will literally kill any character in the game, hands down.
He's a cheesey git! Mat Ward needs to be slapped. Although I've got to admit to using him with my daemons, I've just lost way too many champions and heroes to him and his killing blow on a 5. Very few lord level characters can best him, and he's half their cost! Grimgor, Franz, and Archaeon are some of the few who will eat him for lunch, but that's a short list. However armies like High Elves and Lizards can take him down with shooting, and burning alignment easily these days.
Another great place for him is inside a block of Pink Horrors beside the Changeling. People really don't like fighting Skulltaker in a challenge when they're WS3 S3 T3 I3 A1...doesn't make for good times.
The Changeling's ability only works on models fighting the changeling, not those fighting anybody else.
Either way the Skulltaker on a Juggernaut is the best way to go with him. His natural abilities combined with a 0+ save is absolutely horrifying to behold and can take out models twice his points cost with little or no effort.

Basically life sucks, there is only war and you're probably gonna get eaten by Tyranids, have fun.
The only requirement to swap stats in my book is being in bsb...
Sadly I never use him,
cause he compete for his slot with a Bloodthirster and that alone makes it a major issue for me.
MEAT IS MURDER
Unless i've missed something spectacular you can neither put him in a plaguebearer nore a horror unit, only one of bloodletters, as heralds can only be in units of their own gods...
And the changling DOES only have to be in base to base... so if you could pull of a charge to get both his unit and that of skulltakers unit into the unit of a hero, or most lords, that man would die SO badly XD
WORSHIP THE VINDICATOR!!! (And a Drop Pod full of Combie-Melta Sternguard never hurts either)
