I was hoping I could get some help from you guys. Me and my girlfriend just started warhammer, having just got rules and army books.
Shes using high elves and Im going to be using Daemons of Chaos. Neither of us know much about it or have any models.
But shes turned it into a bet: The winner gets to pick the name of our first child thats due in 8 months (The name doesn’t really matter, the important thing is having our baby).
The plan is for a 2000 point fight to the death.
Anyways, Im assuming that there are units that elves have a tough time against? I was hoping you guys could help me build an army to counter hers. (Her fathers been playing for 5 or 6 years and is helping her so I need all the help I can get).
I wish she had an army already so I could post a list, but thats not possible.
Thanks for any help and feel free to suggest names
There is no nobler cause that i can think of than that xD
Well the things straight off the top of my head are;
Noxious Vapours to make anything in base contact always strike last. (nurgle daemons) Slanneshi daemons with a herald to always strike first.
Any magic that takes advantage of strength and toughness.
Any idea on the name? Anything from the Daemons of Chaos book would be good
WORSHIP THE VINDICATOR!!! (And a Drop Pod full of Combie-Melta Sternguard never hurts either)
As long as you don't feel bad about bringing arguably the most over the top Armybook in the game to the table, you can run just about anything with daemons and win. High Elves tend to go first all the time, so you can prepare for that by taking things with a low initiative ( like PLague Bearers) or try to counter it with high speed units (Like Daemonettes). Another option is to take magics to buff your initiative or gifts that lower their (like the mentioned noxious vapors). Really though, just take what you want because it doesn't matter. =/

Welcome to the forum Caridair. I realize that took a little while for us to get back to you, hopefully you're still there.
The nastiest Daemon Lists that I've ever seen were easily the Khorne beasty lists. Take your 500 minimum core and divide it into 2 regiments of Blood Letters. Then grab a Thirster, hook him up to be immune to magic weapons and the likes, and then stick in about as many 6-man regiments of Crushers as points allow. It's sickeningly unfair.
The other option is to drop all of your Core on regiments of Horrors. This will give you casters to help shut down her phase. Are you allowing Special characters? If so, Kairos and/or BlueScribes are insanely powerful mages who can keep Teclis on his toes (she WILL have him). High Elves tend to loathe Chariots and anything that deals Impact hits, because it's the only way you can kill them before they get to swing at you.
Look for unit-affecting spells that focus on Strength and Toughness. The Elves really lack these things, and spells like Dwellers Below from the Lore of Life can easily decimate 1/2 of an Elf regiment.
Caution on this whole name-picking thing. If she doesn't like it, you've just fought this battle for nothing. Good luck with the game, and better luck with the baby- congratz.
