Thinking of starting DOC as my third army. I mostly play against vampires and ogres and i wondered how viable daemons of chaos are againt these 2 armies
The Deamons Codex is so versatile that we are strong against all the Army Books
For our lords section your can take a greater deamon, BloodThirster, Lord of Change, Papa Nurgle. Each of these Choices you can get for 500 points and be extremely deadly. Most of these Choices are as good if not better than the best mounted character you can get in other Books.
The Heros all Boost your Core Section, like Khorne Heralds give Hatred to BloodLetters, and Tzeentch Heralds give +1 to the ward save of Horrors. Our Tzeentch Wizards are extremely underpriced for the damage they can put out. 115 points get you a T3, 2wound model with a 4+ ward save. This Model has the potential to be able to inflict 7str7 hits on a 4+, or 12str10 hits on a 9+.
All of our Core are unbreakable in combat, so you will not ever have to worry about runnings away or breaking in combat, you will however lose wounds if you lose combat. We have Wizards as core Choices. So you can spend your Lords Points on a combat Monster, and your Core on Wizards.........WTF.
Our Fast attack Section is pretty Cool. We have 2 Wound FleshHounds that are basically cavalary...cept they hit harder than most cavalary, and are pretty dependable with their two wounds, and magic resistance.
Our Rare Section is pretty intense. We have 2 wound monstrous cal that can hit into combat with 2 str6 attacks and 2 str 5, with stomps, and if you add a character you get hatred. ORRRRR you can take Flamers...which is probably the best points spent in the entire codex...and ive tried to argue that they are the best points spent in the entire game...like seriously for 210 points that can march and fire 6d6 str 4 flaming shots at 18inches away every turn, or fire at a unit, then stand and shoot 6d6 shots again....that is sick. Plus they have 2 wounds.....
So Yes, we can take on any Army Book comfortably. We can powergame to the extreme, or we can play fluffy..its up to you...and Dont even been Afraid of Ogres or Vampires. We have Models in our Army that are Sharpened to handle any situation.
and is it true they have magic attacks army wide?
Yes. all daemon attacks are magical including ranged attacks (flamers) Which really puts the hurt on VC ethereals.
