WIP: Kabal of the Venomed Tongue

Shown here is my Work In Progress on my new Dark Eldar army.

I started with an HQ choice which can be used both as an Archon/Dracon as well as a Archite/Dracite. I've used Lelith Hesperax but am not going to use her as such. She has enough weapons to count for the majority of the available wargear and by adding half a splinterpistol to her helmet, it can count as a Tormenter helm.

    ---------- Post added at 16:50 ---------- Previous post was at 16:47 ----------

Next up is my first Raider squad. I decided on a typical Dark Eldar scheme with a black undercoat, Midnight Blue shading, Enchanted blue mottled with Ice blue. The eyes are Skull white over a Bleached Bone shade. The weapon barrels get another black layer and the spikes are a simple Boltgun metal.

The squad consists of 10 Warriors, one with Splintercannon and one with a Shredder.

My next choice was another Raider squad. Done almost the same, except this time I've swapped the colors around. This time the Raider gets the blue paint job, and the Warriors have a black undercoat, Dark Angels Green shading, Goblin Green mottled with Scorpion Green and again Bleached bone eyes with a highlight of Skull white.

Again 10 Warriors, one with a Splintercannon and one with a Shredder.

    ---------- Post added at 16:58 ---------- Previous post was at 16:55 ----------

My third troops choice: the humble Warrior squad. This time, I wanted to give them a paintjob that would get my opponents attention. Black undercoat again, with Red Gore shading, Blood Red mottled with Sunburst yellow, Bleached bone eyes with Skull white highlights.

15 Warriors, two carrying Dark Lances, and two others Blasters.

    ---------- Post added at 170 ---------- Previous post was at 16:58 ----------

Time for some heavy firepower: a Ravager. Done in the same way as the Raider from the first Raider squad. Black undercoat, and taking a large brush, stamping on Dark Angels Green, Goblin Green and Scorpion Green. The crew gets the same treatments as the Warriors.

I'm going to let it keep the 3 Dark Lances, as I plan on another Ravager with three Disintegrators.

    ---------- Post added at 172 ---------- Previous post was at 170 ----------

And add one Fast Attack choice: Reaver jetbikes! Black undercoat, Red Gore shading, drybrushed with Blood red. Metal parts black with Boltgun metal. Converted two splinterrifles into Shredders.

5 Reaver jetbikes, two with Shredders.

Most of the pictures aren't working for me, I can only see your Lelith. Based on it I have a few questions/comments.

What colour basecoat did you use? Logically it seems black would be the choice with all the dark armour, but then the skin tone and metallics seem very bright to me, much brighter than I'm used to.

I really like your power weapon effect, having the brush strokes going across it rather than just fading out from the middle gives it a very cool sense of movement I think.

As mentioned before the metallics seems a little bit too bright for me, but that's obviously preference, I would suggest maybe giving them a wash with black ink, then again if you want this model to stand out because of the metallics, maybe it wouldn't work so well.

You appear to be quite a good painter so I would encourage you to try more highlighting, the skin tone I think is suffering from being a bit too flat.

I hope you can get the other pictures up and running (or maybe it's just my computer) because I would like to see what else you have done.

i am also having trouble with the rest of the pictures other than your HQ.

I do like the piant scheme that you used.

just one question though. if you are usng a punisher and t-helm how is this model going to be used? by that i mean I thought the pnisher was two handed.

Yeah, the links are broken for me too. I like the feel of the model, though as has already been mentioned, a little bit more on the flesh and metallics would take this up a level in terms of quality.

There, I think I fixed the links to the pictures. Thanks for the comments: I plan on using a dark ink to make the metallic areas darker. I'll also try a few other tips given here, and I'll continue to update with pictures as my army grows.

Ah yes, the black ink does suit DE when boltgun metal becomes too bright.

I have tried 'Baddab Black ' wash with less success and sometimes rely on a fine brush with the normal old Chaos Black to emphasis detail where its needed.

    Thanks.

I like how you've used different colours for the raiders and the squad within them, though it should be said I think the green raider blue troops looks a lot better than the other way around.

I'm not convinced on you scheme on the Leith model, but then I've never really liked gold as a major colour (small bits are great but large amount I'm prejudice against!)

So I'd stick with the green vehicle blue infantry thing, although by the looks of it you looking to make your DE a bit like Eldar (different coloured aspects) and good on you it’s nice to see an unusual scheme every so often (not that good ole fashioned black with x colour here and there is bad :p)

Thanks for the comment! I wanted to represent a Kabal that consists of different groups (hence the different colorschemes), with "Lelith" being the one that binds them together after they get separated after a slave raid from another Kabal.
I've got some new pics coming up, watch this space!

My Dark Eldar Scourges are done! They took me the longest to complete because I made the jump packs myself. Why? Because 2 metal models per blister would cost me 15 euros and for a squad of 10 just not worth the money. So I converted 10 Warriors. The jump packs were made by using a blade attachment from the Reaver jetbike sprue (which you can use instead of the splinterrfile), and the wing-parts are cut of from the plastic frames themselves. The same paintjob as the first Raider squad!

    10 Scourges, 4 Splintercannons.
