I suppose I expected better of GW like Splata says.

But it's that I knew better than to really expect that... whoa, that logic just made me dizzy...

Honestly, I don't really mind not being able to buy new DE models right now. It's hard enough to pay for the essentials these days, let alone a hobby like 40K. But GW needs to throw us a bone on the rules front. The army is just not fun to play in 5th edition like it was in 3rd. Just drop a few hints. That's all I'm asking for, y'know?

Wow, it is a black day when Beasts of Chaos get done before us...

Oh well. Being a Nid player I don't mind the new niddiness quite so much, plus the dex is from 2004, surprisingly. But DE do need some love, and GW have been pressured about it for years now. I still think it's gonna happen, we can't be ignored. Witch Hunters get played less than we do, we're actually used to an extent. I know two other DE players, we're not THAT rare...

The model hate thing is also due to the paint jobs. I do think they should redo some of them, my Wyches are way better than the way they paint theirs. Warriors too are another thing - mine are based off the front cover of the dex, and that looks beautiful on the battlefield. The schemes in the book are a bit too 90's cheesiness...

As for the Necrons vs. DE thing, I can tell you Crons need it more. But really they both deserve a new dex, and what's worrying me more than anything is the rumour of the Blood Angels following the Nids, possibly via space hulk aftermath. I can see some point to that, at the moment they have no physical codex unless you have a printer, and there's nothing in that list that makes you want to take them over the Ultramarine- Sorry, Space Marine codex (no, wait, I was right the first time). But seriously, GW are pushing it.

I'll give them two more 40k dexes after the Nid one. If they still haven't gotten round to it, or at least given some rumours, then I'm pretty much gonna give up on the new dex. I'm a new player, only been using them for just over a year, so I've no idea how harsh it's been for veteran players, but still, GW needs to pull its finger out. I have faith, due to the fact we've still not been dropped, but...

i feel like from a hobby perspective whoever has the oldest models should get the updates first

they're in it to make money, why are they redoing books that already have people buying them

they need to diversify to increase profits. if people can only buy 1 thing you're going to hit a sales cap.

My 2 armies currently are DE (million year old codex), and witch hunters (2million year old codex)! This sucks, both are cool armies full of character and interesting, a little bit off main stream, but now confined to the dark cobwebbed corners of GW. So I thought about updating to a new army, but the only one that really takes my fancy at the moment is the black templars.... what to do, any other thoughts for interesting armies??

Lol Barnacle has te 2 rarest 40k armies lol.

I don't neccessarily see it that way, but I think if all other armies get several updates, DE should also get updates. It's just unfair to give attention to all other armies and completely forget about us.

Usually when you have several kids you feed them all, you simply don't forget about one of two of your kids...

Have you ever thought of picking up Space Marines? That should speed things up, in case you pissed off the wrong GW employee and make SM players learn what it feels like having an outdated codex.

I would suggest CWE, barnacle. They are extremely interesting on all fronts of the game (models, backstory, rules, tactics, attitude, fun factor). And on top of that, they are extremely powerful if used correctly, and probably the most versatile army list to work with (which means you can play them in many different ways and still be successful). It's pretty much a guarantee that GW will never allow the CWE to become outdated like they have done with the DE.

BTW, it's funny to me that this thread is almost at 100 posts when I started it mostly just to vent off some steam.

been watching this thread for a while and i will throw in my 2 cents

havn't posted in a while but i intend to be more pro-active on LO.

just a few things i would like to say:

our codex as it stands IMO is far supperior to alot of armies, infact i would go as far to say that DE is the most powerful army in 5th edition now.
when i field them(which is not often, i'm a chaos fanatic now) my friends get all up in arms saying that they are too good and will get nerfed in the new codex, that they are way to good now, i will admit that we have alot of useless units, this is very true. however the units we do have work tremendously well.

I'll not go into the tactics at the mo but i'm sure everyone here has figured it out, we get cover from almost everything and our raiders dont really go crashing into oblivion anymore, something that 4th edition really messed up for us has been fixed, DE was decent in 4th, in 5th they are amazing, a great return to the DE glory days of 3rd.

i for one dont want a new codex, one of my main issues with wanting a new codex in the past was cause DE was very dated and was not keeping up well with 4th edition rules.

this has all changed for the better in the introduction to 5th, if and when we get a new codex expect a few well loved treasures to be gone when the other units are brought more up to speed.

this will sadden me most as i love them now more than ever. they now do what they where intended to do, well at least how i play them.. Strike fear into your enemies.

i for one would like to see units brought up to speed and new models, but this i fear is going to come at a hefty cost to our loved units which work so well now.

You mean your open-top AV10 Raiders, 4+ on pens makes it into wreck/destroyed and even if something for some strange reason glances you 6 is making you into a wreck. Also I don't know of any special Dark Eldar cover rule so I be willing to say that only terrain that blocks 50% of your unit gives you cover, aka nothing special.
