    Dark eldar in sixth ed.

    Hello my fellow Archons.

Sixth ed. Is right around the corner and rumors abound! I personally am looking forward to the release and can't wait to delve into the new rules. But to be honest I have been hearing some things that make me uneasy. I fear certain rumors might be true as in power weapons being ap 3, which in all honesty will help and hinder our army (if feel no pain stays the same just with a 5+). I am curious to know what others are thinking on this topic. I know the rules are but a week away but let's just say rumors are true for the time being. Any concerns out there? Anything that will help our army be stronger?

Ps. I am going to love challenges!

I think that when Voidravens and Razorwings are given flyer rules (which seems likely), it could give them a serious boost. Being able to make zoom moves with something like the Voidraven and unleashing all of your missiles and your mine could cause some serious carnage.

I have read through the new WD and I can confirm that FnP is now 5+, alltough it seems it now applies to everything that doesn't cause instant death. If WD is precise on this last point it will mean the Fnp factor is now much more of a pointed spear than before. Can't rely on it as we used to. However, I will wait until I have the whole picture before passing judgement on this.

Another thing that plays more to our advantage is that shooting casualties are now removed from the front (meaning closest to the firing unit) of the unit suffering them. That makes for some interesting uses of highly mobile units like ours...

And I'm with Quixos on challenges, gotta love 'em.

I Just read through the WD as well and random charge lengths are in and fleet now allows you to reroll the 2d6. And multi assaults are out with overwatch ( or whatever its called) If you charge two or more units all charged units get to shoot at the squad charging. This will seriously hurt my wyches, since I almost never hit just one unit without them. May have to change up my play style a lot :-(

Also after reading the psychic cards posted withing WD I am kinda wishing we had some psykers in our army. Luckily for us we can ally with elder without penalty. I foresee a farseer in the middle of my wyches for a Divination boost!

The snapshot (shooting at a unit assaulting you) is only made at BS 1, so it shouldn't be wiping out too many of your Wyches.

I'll start with the bad. AP 3 for power weapons!? I don't think I'll be assaulting termies again. 5+ for FnP!? Overwatch even at BS 1... Someone in rules development had an issue with DE winning. We were very well balanced and I think this will be very challenging. No sir, I don't like it. Multiple unit assault means we lose charge bonus- uncool.
Random charging sounds good though. Weakened hull points from glancing- this adds a bit of realism. What that might mean is a few more handbrake turns to face the enemy from those full face AV14 vehicles. Only penetrating hits damage the vehicle.

    De

So anyone else having a hard time believing that Dark Eldar and Eldar are brothers in arms? Just weird to think about.

I can sort of see it, maybe, but not really. It makes about as much sense as necrons who want all living dead allying with others. Now, what about the "jink" save. I can see flickerfields being fewer and farther between.

If all of our fast skimmers get a jink save all of the time I personally will stop equipping flickerfield and stars going with night shields. That way I will get my save and reduce range.

But as per flyers I think I will leave my dog fights to the void raven. Plus being able to fire two str 9 dark lances after moving 18" or more will be devastating. Also how annoying do our flyers become with night shields!?!

at least the dark eldar/eldar alliance will bring some pysker defence in the form of runes of warding. plus rerolls is something that i will never pass up. but i will have to see for sure when the rulebook comes out before i start planning. i dont know exactly how this new rulebook will effect my WWP army but i hope but i hope it doesnt make it obsolete.
