Slowly but surely going to get into Dark Elves, and gingerninja helped me make up this list as a solid starting force. The best part about the list is that it has mostly everything I'll be wanting to use at a later stage in the game, and it's not too expensive; I reckon it'll cost me about $150 all told, without finding good deals etc. Not too shabby, compared to what I need for my 1500 40k army.
So, here we go, let me know what everyone thinks. Please keep your comments constructive and based on a couple of things - I like to play for fun, I'm not a power gamer, I'm brand new to Fantasy, and I want to keep it cheap. Oh, and I also want to theme it towards Corsairs at a later date, so random things like Witch Elves aren't really my style.
Lords & Heroes
1 Master w/ Heavy Armour, Shield, Sea Dragon Cloak, Sword of Might, Pendant of Khaeleth
1 Sorceress lvl 1 w/ Seal of Ghrond
18 Warriors w/ Shields, Full Command
17 Corsairs w/ Full Command
Master goes here
10 Repeater Crossbowmen w/ Shields
5 Dark Riders w/ Crossbows, Musician
1 Repeater Bolt Thrower
Total Points: 999/1000
Am I being blamed for this quite excellent starting force.
It does look like a solid army to begin with, although the lack of a real heavy hitter may hurt you if someone brings a beast at these points.
The next stage for you maybe the addition of cold one riders, some more corsairs and a hydra, but this is for a later time.
Best of luck

"It's important to remember at all times that anyone who's done more than you has no life... Also, anyone who's done less than you is a noob."
Both lists look good, the first one has a bit more staying power, the second has a bit more mobility. Really depends on what you're looking for.
Well, my eventual plan is a Corsair themed list, so dropping the Corsair unit down in size really isn't something I want to do, to be honest. I wouldn't mind squeezing some Cold One Knights into the list, but I've always been a big fan of "Troops first," or in this case "Core first," and in 1000 points I don't want to pack too many non-Core units, silly as it sounds. I'm a huge fan of Corsairs, both before and after the new army book, so I'm going to be only adding more Corsairs to any list I make, doubtful removing any.
Appreciate the thoughts so far though!
Find the points to make your Sorceress a level 2 Wizard then. That combined with all the RxBs and the RBT should be enough to make people run right at ya.
