I'm trying to make an competitive list for future local tournaments.
Equipment: Lance; Shield
Mount: Dark Steed
Magic Items: Ring of Hotek, Blood Armour
Cost: 138 Pts
10 Dark Elf Repeater Crossbowmen
Cost: 110 Pts
5 Dark Riders
Equipment: Rptr Crossbow;
Cost: 110 Pts
Formation: 6x1 (Master in in this unit)
15 Black Guard
Command: Standard [Standard of Hag Graef], Tower Master [Soulrender]
Cost: 273 Pts
12 Har Ganeth Executioners
Command: Standard [Banner of Murder], Draich-master
Cost: 193 Pts
Total Army Cost: 999 pts
Ok after having re-designed this army for a few days I've made some changes. I've made my Master more cost effective removing the crossbow and using the pendant instead of seal for anti magic. And swapping all other armour for the blood armour + shield. now after he have caused 2 wounds in CC he'll have 1+Sv.
For Core I've decided on using the crossbows w.shields instead of an extra DR unit. . The Master will join the DR unit and work as and anti magic/march blocking unit. I've also beefed up my black guard to 15 and I've decided to use executioners (12) as support for them. With ASF banner and Soulrender the BGs can take on pretty much anything and a flanking charge with the executioners will be a fatal blow to most unit. S6 + AP will effectively deal with any kind of armour except fro wardsaves. Can even instakill elf and goblin characters. For the rare choise I've changed my mind. For the first time in a very long time I'm putting my trusted bolt throwers at home and will use a hydra instead. DRs may also act as a support unit for the hydra.
Do you think that this is an good competitive list? More feedback please.
Hmm. The biggest problem is that you have given yourself 2 workable armies here. If you pick to go all dark riders, I would pick the cold ones for mobility. If you choose the crossbows, then the executioners would hold a flank for them and the balck guard.
In the end, I suppose you have to pick the force that you prefer. As far as the ring goes, I can see it being a huge plus for you. With a fast moving character, it can be used to trouble shoot a magic phase.
I hope this helps
Looks pretty good to me. The Ring of Hotek is really nice. Considering the lower magic threat at 1k pts, I think that will be enough.
Other than that, I might reconsider the Banner of Murder. With S6 you're already cutting through armor pretty darn well. I might go for something like a War Banner instead, but you never know... AP might be a winner in some games.
I use banner of murder is because when I'm fighting something that don't require S6 or if I can't afford ti strike last I can choose to use hand weapons instead and still get KB and with standard of murder the enemy get -2 sv. My executioners are flankers so if they're already stuck on my BG unit and I flank with the executioners I shouldn't need the war banner to break my opponent.
ok so any other thoughts? opinions?
Oooo forgot about the handweapons! Nevermind, AP would be nice there.
Well, I do have 1 quick suggestion, but you might not want to go with it.
1) Drop the banner of murder and the command models from the flanking unit of executioners.
2) With the obtained points get 3 more Black Guard, to make the unit 18 strong, and probably more effective, and 1 spare crossbow man with the spare points
I hope this helps.
