Alright, I'm thinking about selling off my Dwarf army in order to start Dark Elves. To that end I'm starting to tinker with small points level DE lists to get a feel for what I want and if DE can deliver. I am buying the book in a couple days but I was in the store today and wrote up a list in my mind. The only thing this list doesn't include is my Hero selection and items as I could not remember the exact points cost. Let me know what you think so far and I will update the list as soon as I get the book.
5 Dark Riders
5 Dark Riders
15 Black Guard
w/Full Comand, Banner of Hag Garef sp? (ASF Banner)
This leaves me around 260ish points to play with for Heroes and equipment.
Hero thoughts as of now.
#1. A Master (Likely mounted on a Dark Steed and given a lance, HA, and shield + Lifetaker sp? Crossbow. Will make the the DR a better flanking unit to help the BG, the idea is to keep this guy pretty cheap, I don't like running Heroes with all the bells and whistles at the 1k level. I might skip Lifetaker for a regular RxB and give him a magic weapon/armour. Will his presence negate the Dark Riders Fast Cav rule?)
#2. Either a second Master also mounted and placed in the other DR unit -or- a sorc. If it is a sorc I would like her to have some decent magical ability which means dropping around 180 of my remaining points on her.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
The Dark Riders still get to use their fast cavalry rule, the character joining them does not however. So the Master cannot march and shoot, etc.
As for a second character, I would recommend a sorc. If you choose to go with another master then I would try to get some sort of anti-magic gear on him, I don't know the point costs but the Ring of Hotek is nice if it will fit on a hero.
