I've spent quite a bit of time posting and responding to other army lists, I figure I better post my own list and let people take pot shots at my list. Let me know if anything stands out (good or bad) or potential problems you may see. I'd love to get a 2nd big block of troops or 2nd RBT but I just don't have the points. I love my warriors big 24+ cause they're going to get sacrificed and need combat res. I could drop the lifetaker but there are too many ethereals and nasty flying march blockers/spell stealers to give it up. The crossbow on the master is just for fun. I figure he'll hit on 2-3's usually which is better than bulking up the warriors with crossbows who normally hit on 5-6's.
Sorceress level 4 Lifetaker, Sacrificial Dagger, Pendant of Khaelith
Sorceress level 2 Tome of Furion, Darkstar Cloak
Master BSB Great Weapon, Armor of Regeneration, Sea Dragon Cloak, Shield, Repeater Crossbow, Null Talisman/Shard
25 Warriors Spears Full Command, Warbanner
10x Warriors Repeater Crossbows, shields
5x Dark Riders Musician, Repeater Crossbows
5x Dark Riders Musician, Repeater Crossbows
6x Shades Great Weapons
6x Cold One Knights Musician
18x Black Guard Full Command Banner of Hag Graef, Champion has Crimson Death
6 dispel dice, 8 power dice 1x magic resistance
I've got a few points left, and may give my bsb a dark steed and may try to bump up the harpies to 7.

well for starters I can see one problem clear as day. your lvl2 sorceress.
where are you putting your characters? What lores are you going to use? I'd put your lvl4 on a peggie and fly all over the place casting nasty spells. remenber that you can always choose flee as a charge reaction. I'd put the dagger or the familiar with your lvl2.
Musician in a black guard unit is pretty much useless. Remember that a mounted + great weapon = +1 str... better of with a lance then.
Your army seems to have too few heavy hitters, You've got the knights, shades and hydra but in a 2k+ game you'd want more than that. And dark magic isn't that good of a damage lore. I can't really give you any advice without changing too much so if you're ok with your list then don't change it.
The best way to find out if your list works or not is to play test. proxy if you don't have the models yest.
yes you've got the wrong names. the ones you've listed are two arcane items.
Are you sure that the extra dispel dice would make a difference in your group? if so then go for it otherwise I'd give her the familiar instead of those magic items.
Yes I do think that a lvl2 would have greater benefit from the dagger than a lvl4. It's very unlikely that you'd get of 4 spells with a lvl4 (or you'll have to sacrifice 4 models each magic phase!) Being lvl 4 means that you can get off the spells you want not necessarily more spells. But a lvl2 may struggle getting of the two spells she has if you've rolled the more difficult spells giving her the dagger somewhat secures that she is being able to cast 2 spells every magic phase.
I still would put her on a Pegasus. The whole reason why she is on one is to avoid combat and not having a problem with range and LOS. He have the reverse save pendant so she can survive some heavy shooting. And far from all spells are 24" and as stated above what if some trees are in the way. Is she just sitting there doing nothing? Since she is vulnerable and she is a ranged character, therefore you shouldn't be anywhere near anything that can get a guaranteed charge at you. Your movement are there for getting in range and LOS. And you can always choose to flee.
I actually rank Shadow 2nd after Dark, Metal 3rd, Death 4th Fire 5th. I like all spells in shadow except the one you just mentioned. Metal is nice for anti war machine.
Musician shure is cheap but it's still points. Saving some points here and there and you can add an extra model.
I would not have the BSB on a dark steed at the front. Just because you have so many slow moving units that need the BSB. I'd stick him with the Spears and get a whooping +6 static CR. If you concern about armor I'd get the potion of strength + halberd + blood amour + SDC. You begin with 4+ AS and as soon as you deal some wounds you should have 1+AS. S5 should be fine against most rank and file. If your opponent sends a character or monster to kill him of, pop the potion and get S8! You won't have the regeneration save but 1+AS and striking with I7 should be enough for most of the time.
I think I've found the thing that bugged me on this list. One boltthrower won't make a great impact on the battlefield. I'd get rid of one dark rider unit (one DR unit is enough as support for your knights) and either get another bolt thrower or remove your bolt thrower and get another hydra and use the remaining pts to beef up your shades.
Hope it helps.
