5 Cold One Knights with fc 175
And thats 1438pts
what shoud i do? should i go for a 1000 point army or 2000 point army
wat would you recommend?
Start with 1000 and when u get more units expand to 1500 then to 2000
For a 1000pt army with your models I would take:
Sorceress @ 160
Level 2, Sacrificial Dagger
Master @ 94
Heavy Armour, shield, Sea Dragon Cloak, Lance
(just take a corsair model and anounce this is your master since no other corsairs are in the army and you're master has a Sea Dragon Cloak I think this model is very fit for a master)
20 Warriors @ 155
Shield, full command, War Banner
6 Dark Riders @ 139
Repeater Crossbows, Musician
10 crossbowmen @ 115
(just tell your opponent before battle begins that the musician is a champion)
5 Cold One Knights @ 198
Standard, Champion, Standard of Slaughter
(just tell your opponent before battle begins that the musician is not included although the model is present)
6 Shades @ 114
4 Power dice (with sacrificial dagger + Power of Darkness spell you can cast enough)
3 dispell (just accept the damage you receive with magic dispell only the spells that could lose you combat or cost you vital charges)
I'll give you some pointers on how to use these units.
The sacrificial dagger I always include this item when I put magic in my army. Start off with casting Power of Darkness (the spell all dark elf mages know). Cast this spell with one dice. If you roll 4+ then I would not sacrifice a model (normaly i would but with 20 warriors you can't afford to lose 2 many models). You're opponent (if he's smart) would try to dispell this. He has to use 2 dice to be sure to dispell it. If he rolls 1-3 on his dispell with 1 dice then you're spell goes through hes is out a dispell dice and you have now 5-7 power dice. This should be enough to cast 2 spells and 1 will go through.
I added a shield to these guys so they have a 4+ save in combat when you not use your spears. When combat starts you have to anounce what weapons you use. For example when a Strenght 5 attack enemy charges you then you would be better of with spears, I'll explain.
If you use shield + hand weapon you have 6+ from light armour 5+ with shield and 4+ that the shield + hand weapon combo gives you (this doesn't count when holding spear and shield has to be handweapon). Strenght 5 = -2 armour save. If you use shield + hand weapon you would have a 4+ - 2 = 6+ save. You're not going to save many with that. So pick spears so you can fight back with 2 ranks. So even if they kill 5 warriors then the 2nd rank can still attack back. Wich is 5 attacks + 2 from champion.
But if a S3 attack unit charges you I'd take the shield + hand weapon so you have a 4+ armour save.
Another tip, when you warriors march they put their shield on their back and may not use the shield for saves of enemy shooting/magic.
These can be effective but make sure you place these with no scenery infront of you because it would be a waste if you can't hit any enemies because your enemy is behind a forest.
If a weak enemy or a non rank unit charges you just stay 10 models wide and stand and shoot. If a infantry unit comes towards these guys you might want to change formation one turn before to 5 wide 2 deep. Try to hold the first round of battle and the turn after come to aid with other units.
I never leave home without these fellas. The are simply that good. Never take shield on these guys because then they lose their fast cav rule. I added only a musician because it gives +1 on you rally attempt. With crossbows they can shoot down some enemies and with spears they can charge in the flanks of enemies (they are fast cav so pay attention on the fast cav section in the rulebook)
Cold one knights
The cold ones have a Standard of Slaughter. What you want for this unit is to take on tough opponents. But be carefull you should avoid if possible a front charge on a tough enemy. You have no ranks and need the Combat resolution from wounds. This is also where the Standard of Slaughter comes in handy. You start out with 2-4 static combat res. 1 for you banner and 1-3 for the magic standard.
A weaker infanty unit you can take head on. This is fun, for the knights do alot of damage!
Deploy as scout and stay close to the enemy and shoot down some models and charge units that are in combat in the rear/flank, or take out warmachine crew etc.
Thanks you nice army list and great ideas.
