Here's the list as it stands in 7th Ed rules:
LVL 2 sorc w/ Darkstar cloak (+1 power dice) - 175
Tome of Furion (+1 Spell)
-this should give me 1/2 the dark magic list with one mage, two power dice for army three for me and with luck the power of darkness bringing in one or two more each magic phase for a grand total of 5-7 power dice so I can easilly cast spells without fear.
-note this is also my general to save some points whihc is the one thing I really feel chancy about the army but I'm willing to chance on.
War Hydra 175 pts
-Expensive but it can destroy the trolls I know will be in the gobbo army if that is the case, the two 4+ saves help keep it alive and it blocks all arrow fire against the sorc.
Two units of Witch Elves (x10) - 200pts
-have many attacks with eternal hatred and poisoned attacks plus frenzy. if they get into battle they can with 7 in front rank and three in the back use a massive 21 attacks per unit... hopefully the number of dice will help beat armour over dwarves and the gobbos fear elves and have weak attacks so this could wipe out the majority of the little bastards.
two units of corsairs (x10) - 200 pts
-one hand weapon, one hand bow
- I'm using these to throw between units of witch elves, with the high saves incase I face archery I can place them infort of the witches and if not alternate the units. the witch elves must charge if they can so when I messure for them I can guess if the corsairs hand bows can hit @ 8" just to add a little fire power. can nuse as stand and shoot to take a few men out if nessicary and if within 8" I can fire double shots for 14 shots per unit as I'll be fielding the 7 in front 3 in back way again.
looking for feedback and will post later how it plays out tommorrow night.
Well the only tweaking I did was I took one unit of corsairs and gave them back the double weapons, the second unit I put my sorc inot for some protection from bolt throwers.
HOW DID IT WORK?
game 1: I ran one unit of witch elves behind the other right inot his bolt throwers whihc he'd placed beside a forest to give them a chance at the hydra. with frenzy and hatred they killed the 1st bolt thrower in the 2nd turn and used over run to get the next one as well. I brought my hydra right inot combat with a few spells to take the ws and bs skill of his warriors to one the hydra basically eliminated them 1st round of combat (2nd turn) excpt for 2.
The hydra took 3 wounds but prevailled and the witch elves gave SO many wounds in Hand to Hand that it was a fairly simple win.
GMAE 2: with his bolt throwers as far back as possible I changed forward with but my witch elves and corsair unit without the sorc, the other unit moved around a woods with the hydra in front. one VERY LUCKY spell roll with two 6's and 14 hits with a spell and his blockade unit was almost decimated. Although this time the stunties held thier own very wellin hand to hand the spells with the hydra helpped greatly. The hydra took 2 wounds but got close enough to charge the 2 bolt throwers and thanks to a little help from lady luck the bolt throwers did not hold thier own and basically failed the army in taking out the hydra.
All in all Dark Elves 2 Dwarves 0....next week we're both adding another 250 pts and playing a 1000 pt game
