Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've just started playing with Dark Elves (just had 2 games with an 1k list), very magic-oriented (2 sorceresses, 25 warriors, 18 corsais, 6 CoK, 1 RBT). After those two games (1 W - 1 L), i became to wonder if this kind of list was the "right" for me. Why? 'Cause magic is very fickle (in this game: 4 miscast (2 in each game), plus not achieving the to cast roll, plus high "to cast roll spells"). So why spend so much in such randomness? If i wanted a lot of randomness i should have chosen Skaven right?
Sea Dragon Cloak
Lvl 2 Sorceress
6 Dark Riders
I still have enough points for:
a) 1 RBT and CoK STBearer
b) 11 Xbowman and CoK STBearer
c) 12 Corsairs with musician
So, the idea is this (generally):
use both DR and shades to attack warmachines, mages etc, block march and rear and flank charges. i think 2 units in 1k points should be enough. Both corsairs and Cotk shoud play together, trying to support each other.
About the 3 options, i dont know which one to use. i guess i would benefit with more troops (either corsairs or xbowman). On the other hand the RBT would give me, at least, "psychologic" advantage, since they dont tend to worth their points, specially in 1k games.
What do you think?Share your thoughts! opinions will be most welcomed

1 bolt thrower wont have much effect. Try fielding a hydra instead devestating @ 1k
I also used to field small units by 6 but in a smaller game you need the points so try to cut them down to 5 models. Dark riders and shades.
Drop musician on CoK and take a standard.
Your noble is expensive for what he is going to do. A CoK champion had 2 attakcs S6 and your master has 4 attacks S6 only master costs about 85 points more. I find that expensive for 2 attacks more.
You could take some black guards with ASF and put master in there with GW and 1+ save armour. (costs some points but u wont break easily)
You're sorceress needs a little extra, either give her darkstar cloak, or sacrificial dagger. For the sacrificial dagger it's better to have a large unit of warriros instead of corsairs so make a desicion based on that, more PD at costs of warriors, or always 5PD with corsairs. (could darkstar cloak and warriors but I think u prefer corsairs). This way you can still cast some nice magic without being magic heavy. with 5 dice u can cast 1 spell with 3 dice and another spell with 2 dice, 1 spell will get though if both cast succesfull.
I would make the following changes myself keeping ur list intact. I dont have army book by hand guessed the costs a bit. If you have points left buff the corsair unit.
Master ~ 109
1+ save magic armour
Lvl 2 sorc ~ 155
5 Dark Riders ~ 117
17 corsairs ~ 179
5 CoK ~ 135
13 Black Guards ~ 218
Standard, ASF banner
5 Shades ~ 85
With this list you have nice magic, 2 small mobile shooting units also great for flanking, you have 2 infantry units wich one of them kicks ass, and a unit heavy cav wich is totaly expandable don't feel to bad if you lose this unit its only 135pt
thanks for the reply!
Well, i didnt have enough points for everything, so i replaced the corsairs for warriors (i will re-replace them in 2k points game anyway)
so here's my new list
Noble with GW and armour of darkness
Lvl2 sorceress with darkstar cloak
20 warriors with FC and shield
5 dark riders with musician and xbow
5 shades with GW
14 BG with banner of ASF
i really like this list. the only thing i wanna ask you is this: wouldnt it be better if i gave a champion to the BG unit with that magical weapon that gives +2str and add a cheap noble, maybe to the warriors unit? or maybe an assassin....
If you take a assasin wich don't come cheap, I usualy use +D3 attack weapon + manbane + additional hand weapon so you have 4-6 attacks that almost always wound on 3+ but thats about 142 poitns. And this way your sorceress is going to be general and he has leadership 8. But don't think you could fit him in low points.
