After reading an obscene number of posts, army lists, strategy guides, I've come up with the following list. I've made selection based on which models and fluff I like the most and which units will be able to cause the most headaches. So, here we go:
Master, Manticore, Heavy Armor, Shield, Sea Dragon Cloak, Deathpiercer, Ring of Hotek - 340
5 Dark Riders, Repeater Crossbows, Musician - 117
14 Corsairs, Reaver, Standard Bearer, Sea Serpent Banner - 185
5 Harpies - 55
5 Harpies - 55
5 Cold One Knights, Dread Knight, Standard Bearer with Standard of Slaughter - 202
Cold One Chariot - 100
14 Black Guard, Tower Master with Crimson Death, Standard Bearer with Banner of Hag Graef - 270
War Hydra - 175
The army is intended to operate in two detachments. The first one will be made up of the Black Guard, Corsairs, and Chariot, and the second will be the CoKs and War Hydra. The Corsairs will take care of big, weak units and the Dark Riders and Harpies will generally make a nuisance of themselves. The Manticore will be played aggressively, shutting down casters with the Ring of Hotek, stomping around and roaring, getting rear charges and just ruining everyones afternoon.
The question I have is this: I could trade out the Manti for a pair of Level 2 Sorceresses with Darkstar Cloak, Tome of Furion and a Dark Steed, then make the Corsairs handbowers and stick one of the spellslinging ladies inside them. Would this be a better use of the Piratey fellas? Or do they excel as sushi chefs?
I like it. Hitty, decent magic protection, and plenty of fast stuff.
The Chariot may not be all that and a bag of chips running on its own. 10 RxBs would fit in nicely.

Well, the idea with the chariot is that is would serve as a flanker for the Black Guard, which are a very nice anvil (and can do a lot of wounds on a charging enemy with the ASF banner). Plus, I really want to use the Carnosaur model and a giant cold one/chariot seems the closest thing to it rules-wise.
