Alight as many of you know I'm building a 500 point warband list for a league that the club is running. I think I'll just choose the one that gets the most feedback, or at least until I can settle on an army =). Here it is...
2X10 man dark elf warrior units
5 shades (march block spam, *this is harpies joba s well*)
first dark elf list so thoughts?
GWyou need a seadragon cloak. Pendant of Khaelith or regen armor and a lance and darksteed with shield and he becomes a unit killer/flanker all by himself. or get him some more armor, a cheap magic weapon and RxB and let him join the shades.
2X10 man dark elf warrior units Make these repeater crossbowmen with shields if possible.
FC I don't know a single army that doesn't have a way to kill these before you get within charge range ~ esp. at 500pts. I'd drop them for more shades and to make your noble less likely to be killed.
5 shades (march block spam, *this is harpies joba s well*)they need to be bulked up slightly and given great weapons.
I agree with buckero0 u need to make ur master more surviable maybe not the pendant or the regen armour i think the armour of darkness would survice IMO andmaybe crimsion death if u have the points
He is also right about the excicutioners everyone i no could take them down even in 500 points, maybe take something a bit faster with a bit more hitting power? Hydra if u want to be gay or maybe just a bolt thrower.
Also take out a unit of repeater crossbowmen for dark riders with repeater crossbows give u a bit more speed.
Harpies may be unrequired in such a small point game
Alright I hit the drawing board again (after seeing one of my buddies lists). I decided to be like him and follow the whole warbands minimum size (to a degree)
Sea dragon cloak
10 shades (I'm thinking 2 units of 5 but its your call on which is better)
I think a repeater crossbow on the master would be better, but you could drop both and be fine. I really don't see anything that can hurt highly armored and T4 troops. You need something that can hurt the badguys.
That's why crimson death or a plainjane great weapon on your master would be great, not to mention great weapons on the shades (remember, they don't have to scout!) Corsairs could drop some numbers or command to get the points for those upgrades.
Master still has no way of defending himself. and yes, the armor of darkness is cheap and great for protection as well (remember he's T3 and can be charged easily)
What are the restrictions for warbands again? Do you even need the master? Could you go with an assassin instead? Same price, less protection but he gets manbane and rending stars and ASF and he can scout with the shades if need be.
I'll drop 4 shades for some points...Should get me better armour and a GW on the master.
according to the army specific rules of warbands DE have to get it from GW's website (old army book, rules don't exist). So I'm kind of forced to follow the normal rules which are...
1 hero (can't exceed 150 points; if it wasn't for this I'd just grab a points sink like lokhir)
1 special (2 if you don't take a rare)
You can only have one chariot or warmachine or unit(s) that fly. Minimum unit size is 3 for like DE warriors (20X20mm bases I believe) 2 for cavalry (25X40 ) and 1 for monsters (40X40 ).
That's all I can remember...But hopefully that helps for giving advice =).
If you're actually playing w the warbands rule you may want to consider the hidden objectives as well: assassinate the leader, quandrants, invade, annihilate, and capture the standard.
Here's a list I used recently with success if you want to try to use it.
5 Black Guard - Tower Master w Crimson Death = 104. TM is your general here
10 Spearmen - Shields, standard = 78. Provides a standard for the mission and a shield for your black guard
1 Assassin - rending stars, manbane, AHW = 151. Put in with spearmen
Total comes to 497
Since assassins count as core and not hero he is allowed at 151 points. He's also your ace card if the enemy has to go after your general or standard, pop him out and he'll drop any hero/chariot/WM at this limit with rending stars + challenge.
Split RxB men in different quarters to maximize firing lanes and to hold quarters for the mission depending on deployment. CoK to guard flanks and the RxB men.
Invade would be the harder objective for you to win, but if you do roll it you can just go for the win by annihilation. Most of the units can hit quite hard here
A naked master hero like that isnt going to hit very hard or survive well. Also the corsairs are a bit too expensive to take that many or FC.
