Regarding the CoKs, you just need to pass one test per unit per turn. If the general is close by, you can use his leadership for the test (not that it matters in this case). The turn you really need the unit to pass the test you use the banner. It is pretty much an automatic passed test. The AP banner is also great in the Black Guard, but banner of hag graef is proberbly better.
