With Storm of Magic finally here I wrote out a 2500pts list with Malekith as my general.
This army is intended to be able to play Warhammer and Storm of Magic (the Storm of Magic elements have been ommited).
Malekith, the Witch King of Naggaroth
Sorceress - Lvl 2, Tome of Furion, Seal of Ghrond
Sorceress - Lvl 2, Pearl of Infinite Bleakness, Dispel Scroll
35 Spearmen - Full Command, War Banner, Shields
20 Corsairs - Full Command, Sea Serpent Standard
20 Crossbowmen - Shields
20 Black Guard - Full Command, Banner of Eternal Flame
3x Bolt Throwers
Malekith usually joins the Spearmen (Black Guard are too obvious and too fragile, plus they're already Immune to Psychology).
The Black Guard have the Banner of Eternal Flame as I had 10pts left in the list for a Banner, so a no-brainer. It actually won me a game against Lizardmen, as they charged Lord Kroak and killed him (he's Flammable), thus preventing my opponent spamming his single spell and killing my army.
So far it's played 4, won 4. The other three games were against Dark Elves, using the scenarios in the back of the book (Dark Monoliths, Heroic Last Stand, Invasion with me defending). My opponents complained it was like playing Dwarves, thanks to +2 Dispel dice, a Scroll and 3 Channels from this army.
Can't wait to use this for Storm of Magic. 3+ Ward on Malekith. Thinking of using a War Mammoth, but haven't decided what to spend the other 125pts on, whether Monsters or Items. Number 1 priority for the Seven Secret Sigils of Summoning is a Lvl 2 High Elf Mage, or a Lvl 4 Archmage. I'll stick him on a Fulcrum and he can either build me a new one or nullify my opponents one.
Nice build. The nice thing about it is that Malekith can take fulcrums as well, Flying around killing off other wizards and taking their fulcrums!
As for the 125 remaining points.. Have you thought about bringing harpies? These ones in sotrm of magic can be upgraded with magical, flaming killing blow attack and cost 13 points each! So they are pretty hard hitting while still doing the same job as allways just flying around causing mayhem and annoying your opponent.
I used Harpies in my HE 3K list, I had 140pts and nothing to spend them on (I'd taken a FU Hydra, the Dawnsword and the Windcatcher Prism) so I took 10 Harpies with everything. They charged a lvl 1 DE Sorceress on Pegasus with Ring of Hotek, ran her down and caused a Black Dragon to flee. They later got burned up by the Dragon and fled but the Dragon then fled off the board after a nearby Hydra got Searing-Doomed.
At least they made their points back. Managed it with the Dawnsword too...
