I wanted to make a list that uses a lot of strategy. Not something thats hard to play, but something that can be extremely flexible and can disrupt enemy plans.
-Sea Dragon Cloak
12x Repeater Crossbowmen
12x Repeater Crossbowmen
6x Dark Riders
5x Cold One Knights
Reaper Bolt Thrower
Ths army doesn't have much punch, instead, it wins through tactical "ideals". Lots of flank charges, rear charges, panic tests, march blocking, and harassment.
I have fun with this list. Its not an uber power gaming dealy, but somethng I can have fun with.
Its used as a pincer or a flank attack.
Both units of crossbowmen and the RBT target one flank with a unit of shades harassing from behind if possible. The CoK and DR with harassment from the other unit of shades attack the other flank. This effectively rids myself of a combat line and allows me to target specific units or ignore certain units.
Both crossbowmen units and the RBT set up in the middle with the CoK, DR and both units of shades harassing one flank and trying to sweep across as enemy units advance.
I like it. I think the choices of units are great. I have only a couple of suggestions:
Get that noble a Sea dragon cloak. The general needs all the armour he can get.
Find the points for RxB's on the dark riders, even if it means dropping 1. Just think that extra 10 shots comes in handy, esp againt fanatics and the like.
Also, it would be interesting to see this list at 1.5k and 2k level. Would you keep the whole shooty theme about it, or invest in some Close combat? You will definatley need some magic defense (seal of ghrond, sorceresses) and more RBT's will help. Just looking at it, at 1.5, i would add some magic, 1 more RBT and at least one more unit of dark riders. Then, in 2k, id go nuts with a 500 point highborn on a dragon. Some extra punch, without compromising speed. The only reason i dont use on in my DE army, is coz i have one in Khorne Mortals army (dragon with 7 attacks anyone??)
Im sure Manu, once he looks at this thread, will give his Dragon a great wrap.

It's an interesting list. If I were playing against it, I'd go all out for the CoK unit and the points it represents.
Then I'd mop up with the other, less deadly units. I think you need a way to protect it, or distract the enemy with it. You don't seem to have much else in the way of offensive threats.
Manticore is a great idea. Similar role, a bit weaker, but itll let you fit a bit more RBT's or dark riders something else in, compared to a dragon.
Good list dude, and good luck.
The general has a 0+ save.. Maybe you could cut the Enchanted shield to a mundane shield and be content with a 1+ ?
Id cut the crossbows to 10, cut a shade off of each unit, cut the Enchanted shield, and try to sqeeze in a second unit of Dark Riders.
OR, swap a unit of Shades for harpies.
DavidVC04 has a point about the COK unit being a huge target. Maybe a sorceress in the Crossbows would be a better way to go? Nothing 'disrupts' the enemy like a Pit of Shades
Its not my style, but overall it aint too bad.
