Been toying with this list, as Im interested in fielding Menghil and his Manflayers. See what ya'll reckon.
L - High Sorceress
Level 4, powerstone, Steed
H - Sorceress
Darkstar cloak, powerstone
H + H - Beastlord + Manticore
Lance, L Armour, SD Cloak, Web of Shaddows, MANTICORE
C - 25x Warriors (thinking of using Corsairs instead...)
Shield, Spear etc, Full Command
C - 12x Warriors
C - 10x Warriors
C - 5x Dark Riders
S - Menghil Manhide and 9 Manflayers
R - 2x Reaper Bolt Throwers
R - 1x Reaper bolt throwers
TOTAL - 1997
Now, Im trying to be strong in all fields, CC, shooting and Magic. I think its ok, but would like suggestions (particualy on whether Spearelves or Corsairs would be good in this list....)
(Manu, Im bracing myself for this one...... )
A ward save would be good, but cant see anywhere to get the points from.L - High Sorceress
Level 4, powerstone, SteedGoodH - Sorceress
Darkstar cloak, powerstoneI'd drop the WoS & LA in exchange for blood armour.H + H - Beastlord + Manticore
Lance, L Armour, SD Cloak, Web of Shaddows, MANTICOREGood. Either keep this & drop the lordling, or go for 18-20 corsairs with Warbanner, muso & standardC - 25x Warriors (thinking of using Corsairs instead...)
Shield, Spear etc, Full CommandHmm. 3 RBT's & Mangil is a decent amount of shooting. At the very least I suggest dropping 1 unit of these. Or even better, dropping both for another CC unit, which you are lacking inC - 12x Warriors
C - 10x Warriors
RxB'sOk. Be careful with these, they tend to be extra fragile when a level 4 is with them lolC - 5x Dark Riders
RxB's, MusoI dont know about these, but the list is built around them. So if you want them, go for it.S - Menghil Manhide and 9 ManflayersokR - 2x Reaper Bolt Throwers
R - 1x Reaper bolt throwersProbably a little too much shooting with the Rxb warriors, and not enough CC.Now, Im trying to be strong in all fields, CC, shooting and Magic. I think its ok, but would like suggestions (particualy on whether Spearelves or Corsairs would be good in this list....)
Dropping both RxB units for either 2 chariots, or another large infantry block would be desirable.
As for Spears/Corsairs.. If you plan to attack, take Corsairs. If you plan to sit back and use the shooting to force the enemy to come to you, a kind of 'defensive trap', then use Spearmen.
Personally, with the lack of CC numbers, I wouldnt be charging forward on the attack.Haha! I was in a good mood :shifty:(Manu, Im bracing myself for this one...... )
Dark Elves - Game #28 vs High Elves: Draw

I have one of the Crossbowmen in my 1000 points list, so dropping them both may be difficult. I mainly had the 2nd in there coz id have the models (having to buy in lots of 16) so no waste. However, i could make them dark riders instead (using glade riders. Heard of this around the board...)
Theme aside, interested to know what you think of Menghil and his Manflayers. I reckon they look awesome. Multi shot, poisoned crossbows seems a non lizzie players dream, plus it counts for CC too (at s5/6 aswell). As well as that, skermishing scounts that are VERY hard to hit with normal missile fire (banner of Khalid grants an extra -1 modifier to shooting under 12 inches, -2 over 12). Combined with a bit of cover and the skermish ability, its likely the enemy will be at -4 to hit em. Even Waywatchers will be hard pressed to hit em.....
I might just drop the High Sorc to level 3 to pay for a ward save. I dont think itll make that much difference. Or maybe even drop that web of shaddows. See how i go....
Thanks again dude. Must be getting sick of my lists by now...
I have bought MMM too, but haven't had time to paint them yet unfortunately. I was actually planning to build an army around them at some point, but looks like you beat me to it
I agree with Manu with the lack of CC power. Another block of infantry or chariots would be an improvement imo. I like CC heroes better than sorceresses too, but thats just me.
I am looking forward to see the result  when you are done with the list, and if you take it to battle, an army rep would be great!
Rork edit: Woah! Check your spelling - you only give "special chocies" to your girlfriend.
I tend to think the Manflayers would be best supported by a fade-away army style. Put a lot of terrain down, have a ton of fast maneuverable units, march-block, charge-bait and flee from charges until your opponent is in complete confusion.
As such I'd recommend:
-One unit of infantry with the SoC Soul Shadows Standard. Being able to flee a charge and then countercharge with the SAME unit next turn would be awesome. Corsairs or Executioners might be a good choice here.
-more dark riders
-a pair of chariots
-maybe some cold one knights.
Just a thought, it looks to me like your list has just enough infantry to provide a lot of VP, but not enough to really prevail in CC.
Arena of Death Champion: Nexim of the Guldskullz Tribe. Fear my wrath!
I dont really wont Chariots in my dark elf army becuase Ive already got them in my Khorne Mortal army, and quite heavilt in my Beastmen army. Just want a slight change from the norm.
Also, there is a lack of CC, but id did lean it more towards shooting anyway. to help compliment menghild crossbows. However, I thought i has some good CC units in there. The manticore, spearelves, dark riders in the flanks, and dont forget that Menghils unit has poisoned great weapons, so they know how the fight as well.
Ill have to look over it. I've just checked it out, and i cant decide what to replace with a unit of harpies, a 2nd unit of daekriders, even the chariots. Just cant decide.
I gues thats the problem with menghil, that he takes up too many points. Still love him tho.
Cheers for the help guys, Tim
