I am starting a dark elf army that uses dark riders for 2 or 3 of my core choices.
Does this community believe that it is better to take a unit of 7 with crossbows and a musician or a unit of 5 with no upgrades. Something in between maybe? What is the best mix between versatile and expendable.
(Why 7? - in my past experience I found it to be the best number of fast calvary to take to avoid the 25% shooting moral check, without wasting too many points.)
this is the Dark Eldar forum for warhammer 40k, your question should probably go in the dark elves section. But i can understand why you get confused
-A tau, dark eldar and slaanesh csm player
-And always on LO chat..
I personally prefer them with them with the crossbows as they are light cav and are one of my favorite harassment units...
There is nothing more annoying when your Wyches with Plasma Grenades get "Always strikes First" for their combat drugs!
Ummm... this is the Dark Elves forum. Not sure if that was a mix up, but it got me confused enough..hehe.
Anyways, the DR's build completely depends on what role you are using them for. The two units you gave have several different things about them. One can shoot, another cant. One costs alot more, the other doesnt. Personal, I would go for the shooty build. Just have them run around a unit for a few turns, shooting away, untill you get a flank or rear charge set up. Nice to see a new DE player too
I think it would have been moved.
My experience with GRs is that a unit of 5-6 is best, equipped with a Musician and Champion.
Whast you want to tool your unit up with will depend on what the unit's for. For example, a cheap bait-and-flee unit is best with Red Start Trek uniforms, but a unit that's scheduled to shoot down small units (Detachments etc) would do well with Repeater X-Bows and so on.
