I've been a DE player since the start of the 6th edition. Although I tried several other armies over the years I played (quitted around 2005) the elves were the only army I really fell in love with.
Now warhammer is calling me back. For a LONG time I've been trying to figure out what kind of army I would start collecting, not finding any race I really fell for. Now with a new DE edition coming I've finally realized the DE are the only ones for me.
My only problem is that I'm having trouble deciding what colours they should have. Any ideas of what they could wear would be greatly appreciated. Right now I'm thinking of a theme of lighter colours, maybe even with Scorpion greens/Skull whites added. You think it could work on them?
Darker cool colors is pretty standard. If you wanna go green I'd go with dark angels green edging over black. If you want to go BRIGHT green... um, I dunno.
Scorpion Green over Gobbo Green over Dark Angels Green. Finish it off with a green wash.
All else fails, test it on a couple of warriors. You can always strip 'em later.
Post some pictures if you can for all of us to see! It would be appreciated.
I know the standards, and it would be fun to differ from them.
I do have some warriors from my old army that I'm paiting for a second time to try to find anything, and that's where I'm having a hard time deciding.
Let's see if I can find that camera..
Found the camera. It sure is a bit blurry, but well well. Please criticise:

Personally I like the combination of purples and things like "hawk turquoise". With the first being used as the primary color.

love your executioner - is that just white over a black primered figure? looks like you need a flash or something on the first one. I was thinking about doing a algae/barnicle-theme (they're supposed to be pirates, right) with a lot of green and brown armor but can't quite figure out how to do it. I may steal your winter theme, they are from the frigid north after all and I do have the snow for the winter bases.
Thank you. Yes, it's plain skull white and mithril silver right unto the primer, nothing else. Problem is that I'm having a hard time figuring how that guy's supposed to fit in with the rest of my army, since the warriors don't fit at all in white armor.
maybe I'm the only one who does this, but I paint a unit all after a certain theme, not the whole army. I figure, I'm the one who has to paint them and look at them, I'd like a little variety thank you. My High elf army has a unit of green and gold spearmen, blue and yellow themed archers, green tinted white lions, purple and blue phoenix guard and red and black swordmasters.
I have a Dark Elves Bloodbowl team, and have black, with purple metallic (I have the old amthyst paint, but the newer chainmail mixed with purple ink is almost as good) with highlights in gold and electric blue (including the hair on one Witch Elf!)
Well I've been collecting dark elves for just short of a month now, P prefer painting mine red as opposed to purple. Here's how I've painted them:
Undercoat: Simoniz satin black spray paint acrylic.
Chest decoration and any other gold bits: Shining gold with an Ogryn flesh wash.
Chainmail, arm armour, shoulder pads and blades and any other silver bits: Boltgun metal drybrush.
Robes and eyes: Mechrite red followed by Blood red
Straps, wood and holsters: bestial brown.
Skin: Tallarn flesh followed by Ogryn flesh.
Here are the photo's for it. I also have some cold one's painted with the flesh the same colour as the models skin and the scales the same colour as the robes.
