I was just going through the new Dark Elves armylist and White Dwarf 344 (August 200 and noticed that in the Battlereport against High Elves they say that the strength of the Hydra's breath is equal to the number of remaining wounds it has.
The page reads:"So, an unwounded War Hydra has an impressive Strength 7 breath attack"
The armylist however shows that the Hydra has 'only' 5 wounds on his profile, so is this a typo or am I missing something? Perhaps the handlers' wounds also need to be added?
Thanx in advance
As much as I would like it to be s7. I would say with almost complete certainty that it's s5.
Besides, it's not like GW have made silly errors before
From what I can tell, for each saved or regenerated wound, the hydra grows another head and ergo its breath attack get stronger
Either it's as Stonehambrey says, or they did the match and some changes were made to the army-book afterwards.
white dwarf battle reports are notorious for being full of misinformation, typos, misinterpretating or misusing rules and a general lack of tactical judgement. They do have very nicely painted miniatures however. For gameplay, you have to use what's in the army book.
