Hey guys im going to start a warhammer army(dark elves) after a long long long time of playing 40k im starting dark elves becuase at my local store they showed me the new dark elves and what they looked like and they look great! they showed me the army book aswell adn the stats but what i want to know is how do they play i mean like what are there tactics and what do they do well.
Dark Elves are a fast, hitty but fragile army. There are some awesome combat units such as witch elves, black guard and executioners but all rely on getting up close and personal very quickly.
They have cheap core spearmen to offer combat res and fast Dark Riders to hit the flanks. Dark Elves, like the other Elven armies, rely on units working in concert - they have very few units that can operate without some sort of support since most of their units specialise in a particular style of fighting (Anti-infantry or anti-armour, for example).
To play Dark Elves you've got to hit hard...when the time is right.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone

here some units you wont want to pass up are
RBTs(they dont do a ton of damage but opponents seem to fear them.)
and I love my Cold one Knights
If your looking into starting Id grab the battalion box, the master on cold one blister, a box of warriors to bring your spearman block up to 20, and a RBT or two. That right there is more or less the core component to most any DE force and is a great launching point. Oh and before Rork edits my post to include this, you should buy the army book as well.
thx for the help guys i got that battalion box cold ones and a sorceres
