I have a trick not for sure If it's fair to use but will draw some questions.
In a game I played vs a high elf player I put 2 assassins on the edge of the table where the rest of my army was sitting on the table. I never said a word about them being in the army but every time we had combat he asked was the assassin popping out. I told him no so he kept asking. At the end of the game he asked where he was? So I pointed to the egde of the table and told him right there where else sinse he wasn't in my list. He hooted for 10 mintues and laffing the whole time.

I find Fast Cav units like that are best in units of 5 or 6. Come to think of it, have a browse through the WE Tactica. Units like Glade Riders are extremely similar to their DE equivalents. Even if the other contributors don't like you using their work, you can take my pieces.

That is one evil ploy. I just hope my Night Gobbo opponent doesn't get wind of it.

A very nasty way to use dark riders is to put a sorceress on a dark steed with the immense lifestealer crossbow and let her join a unit of dark riders. Now she can marsh and still make 3x hits on 2+ to hit. The lifestealer costs 30 points and you will always earn them back with this setup. Most likely the sorceress shots can cause panic on a unit of skinks singlehandely, clearing the way for the dark riders. Its also a good way to get her into range of ranged units and warmashines to use chillwind.

Erm - she can't - the character doesn't get fast cavalry rules - they can move as fast cavalry, because the movement rules take precedence, but they don't get to march and fire. BRB is at home, but there is the same issue with the Reaver Bow and the Bow of the Seafarer (look at it this way - if she was on her own - could she fire the bow? A character can already move like fast cavalry on their own anyway, so the movement isn't hidnered.)

Miscasting on 2 dice is very low? Technically 1 out of 36 chances.. but I'm still scared to use 2 dices to cast PoD, because I literally miscast on the "FIRST" spell of the game (which is PoD) and then miscast every turn for 2 turns .. and that's been happening for the past 3 games I played.

My first game against High Elf & Teclis.. I got first turn, Lv.2 mage PoD miscast on a 6, Teclis threw a conflagration of doom and killed off 13 Black Guards. Second turn, my Lv.4 miscast on a double 1's and she exploded in a beauty fashion.

My second game against Vampire (right after High Elf game), I got first turn, Lv.2 mage PoD miscast on a 6, Vampire Lord threw a Curse of Year and killed 4 Black Guards. During the same turn, my Lv.4 miscast PoD on a 6 again, Vamp Lord threw another Curse of Year which killed off another 4 Black Guards.

Third game was horrible too, another vamp player. I got first turn, Lv.2 PoD miscast on a 10.. she took a wound and dropped down to Lv.1. Second turn, Lv.1 PoD miscast on a 8, she died and magic phase ended.

I am quickly losing faith to both my dice and Dark Elf magic!
Anima Tactics - try it out!

In games under 2k I love this master:

Enchanted Shield, Cold One, sea dragon cloak, Heavy Armor, Lance, Pendant of Khaelith. Put him in a unit of cold ones and he has a 0+ save and by the time they start to knick away at it you have a 3-2+ ward save. Put the Ring of Hotek on the champion or a null shard for some MR.

    Here's a Dreadlord that I like:
    Dreadlord
    -Repeater crossbow
    -Blood Armour
    -Pendent of Khaeleth
    -Deathmask
    -Dark Steed

Put him in a unit of 7 other dark riders for a devastating flank unit.

    Another set-up I like is:
    Dreadlord
    -Blood armour
    -Pendent of Khaeleth
    -Sword of Ruin

I like this character in a unit of Black Guard with full command. I would give the Tower Master a Ring of Hotek to provide some MR and take the Banner of Hag Graef.

I made some tables awhile back to help me decide whether to use Black Guard or Executioners. From the data, I found that a unit of Black Guard with a suped-up champion, ASF, and combat hero is generally better than a unit of Executioners with a Death Hag (BSB - ASF). However, against T4+ opponents or enemies with high armor saves, Executioners are the way to go. One more thing worth noting is the Death Hag isn't a very survivable character (T3, no armor or ward save). That can be a big deciding factor when choosing between BG with ASF and Executioners with ASF BSB.

I wish I could include the tables (very helpful for "mathhammer) but the formatting doesn't seem to agree with the forum and the file is too big to attatch. Grrr!

But can't disagree with the fact that BG aren't half as coll as Executoniers.
