So I was just wondering does Menghil Manhide's Manflayers get Eternal Hatred?
You always use rules 'as presented'. While Mengil and co are Dark Elves, they do not rely on the army book for anything.
Short answer: No.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone

I think Rork is right.
So rule wise no eternal hatred.
Fluff explanation would be IMO that he and his men aren't part of dark elf society anymore. He is so obsesses about flaying others that he gladly do it for anyone that is providing a target (and I think that's reflected quite well in the special rules). So he don't hate any other race he just wants to flay them
One thing that is unclear though would be that in the rules it says that their weapons is coated with dark venom and refers to the old rules. I assume that because it was just poisoned attacks back then that it will still be that way.
I think that every player that want to invest heavily into shades should consider them. What you're getting is a special character (same stats as a master but with fixed equipment) a 50pts magic standard (that suits them quite well) and "shades" with great weapons + heavy armor and posioned attacks for just 3pts more per model. That's good even if they're not affected by eternal hatred (which is good sometimes).
I haven't played them with the new rules but I think they should be just as fun as they was with the last one.
The units fluff was touched on a little in the new book.
What about the Dark Venom they are using... as that became totally different from previous, when it was just 'count as poisoned attacks' ?
And witch is now useless for the rank-n-file troops under Menghil's command...
I think the biggest clue that they don't get Eternal Hatred is the flaying. The Eternal Hatred means that Dark Elves MUST chase a fleeing enemy.
M3 do NOT chase, instead they stop and flay the skin from the dead (for many extra VPs)
so you'd count them as PA instead of double challenge OK, dang that would be nice for breaking with menghil challenges. but PA are still nice, and effective.

Beer, Pipes, and Guns... Dwarves had the right idea.
