HI all, new Dark elf player here

    Well, new ish.
Been buying Dark elves on / off for about year for small games at my local club.
Only have around 1800pts worth, but will be expanding now (especially as some fool was daft enough to give me an assassin for my birthday).
I'll, no doubt, be trawling the forums to pick up the best build points and tactics.

Welcome to the forum, pull up a slave and enjoy your stay.

What does your collection entail? What sort of games have you played with them? Play any other games/armies?

    Hey there.
My collection is small and varied, and as follows:
    Malus Darkblade
1 x Sorceress (actually a wood elf sorceress converted)
    10 x Crossbowmen
20 x Corsairs (some are older Dark ELf swordsmen converted)
    1 x Assassin
10 Dark Riders (actually a forest goblin spider rider conversion)
20 'Ally' (read cannon fodder) Forest Goblins
    Mengil Manhide's Manflayers

At the moment Dark Elves are all I play outside of tabletop RPGs.
People keep trying to tempt me (back) into wh40k, but I can only afford to buy one army at a time, so that'll have to wait.

hi, i would get a unit of cold one knights, in my opinion the best unit for dark elves (apart from dark riders but you've got them). And they would act as protection for malus. Never used malus ever but he sees a bit wild. Seen as you are building up through 2000 points i would get another unit of spearmen and another sorceress. This is just my opinion its your money.

Thanks. I had a test-run battle last night (my opponent let me use my Dark Riders as CoKs, and some of my Corsairs as Execs). I will now be buying a unit of CoKs.

You can't go wrong with one or two Repeater bolt Throwers. Get at least one.
    40K: Tyranid, Necron, Space Wolves
Fantasy: Dark Elves, Lizardmen, Orcs & Goblins, Dwarves

One of those is next on my shopping list (roll on payday)

    Narrow victory for me:
Executioners were decimated by trolls (troll vomit is unpleasant) losing in a 4-1 ratio in the first round of combat (Killing blow is nice against trolls though).
Shades worked like a crossbow minigun - I love those guys!
CoKs did as well as expected but didn't see much of the battle as they wound up chasing the Gobbo general off the field.
Malus got nuked when he routed a squid herd.
Corsairs got routed by two fanatics
SB was the star of the show - taking on a 40 strong Nightboblin unit single handed, and causing them to rout (he then followed, caught and killed them - it's take weeks to wash that goblin gore and smell out of his nice black clothing.)
The Gobbo shaman neutralised my sorceress (and vice versa) until she was flattened by a full unit of spider riders (the corsairs that were routed by the fanatics should have been protecting her)

Yeah, and thanks for the welcome, I'm dropping malus but using the figure as a Master for the next battle. The figure's too nice to not use.

Wrong. Killing blow only works against man sized models. Keep that in mind next time you play. Use magic or shooting against trolls. pit of shades = dead trolls
