I'm planning to expand out my army to 3000pts and I want a dragon. Because... I want one!
What do you think the best build for the big beasty? A hero? Lord? Sorceress supremo?
Right now I'm looking at a lord with the Black pendant and the lance of killiness.
What have you all used and what has worked for you?
I would go with a dreadlord with the Armor of Darkness, the Pendant of "Must always be in a DE list," and either the killing blow lance or the Crimson Death.
"I am the architect of fate!"
I like a Dreadlord with heavy armour sea dragon cloak, and the shield of ghrond, with a Lance and a two null talismans
Keeps him relatively inexpensive gives him a decent save, and best of all Magic resistance. Your opponent wont expect you to skimp on point with the dragonlord and you can pump those points into other spots.

The Pendant is an obvious choice, Blood Armor would be a cheap bit of added protection (ends up being as good as the Armor of Darkness after only 2 kills). I like Caledor's Bane for hunting other dragons, chariots, and generally messing things up, though Crimson Death would be more stable and ends up cheaper. A Black Dragon egg would be an interesting choice, giving you 2 breath weapons when you need it.
I like a Supreme Sorceress with the Black Amulet and a Focus Familiar or Pendant, Familiar and Lifetaker. She flies around throwing out all her spells and can even get into combat while still retaining full effectiveness with magic. The Black Amulet even helps in the fight if anybody's stupid enough to go after her.

Dreadlord, Sea Dragon Cloak, Shield, Sword Of Might, Blood Armour, Black Amulet.
Good armour save, good ward save, higher strength attacks all the time and a dragon. Win.
