Just ordered the Varathar "dark guardian" figure from andrea miniatures link
As you can see, the figure looks remarkably similar to a Cold One Knight.
I am primarily a 40k player and, with the exception of occasionally watching some fantasy battles, have little idea as to how the game is played or the fluff involved. After having some pretty unfortunate success with searching for fluff here, at lexicanum, and several others, about the cold ones and their riders, I have come here to ask you who play Dark Elves.
Can anyone tell me any fluff or point me in the direction of some materials that can give me some idea as to the character of these creatures and the knights? This would help greatly in the painting and modelling department of my brain.
Cold One Knights are Nobles who decide to ride Cold Ones for their increased power and prestige. It's a big sacrifice, as the only way to approach a Cold One is to cover yourself in its slime, a nasty goopy stuff that dulls your senses to the point where the rider can no longer feel, smell, or taste as a normal elf would. Any elf bold enough to risk this gains great favor by showing his devotion to the Witch King.

Why not look in the army book...there is a whole page on them.
Joe Peshi (lone wolf) kill tally:Lash Sorcerer, Ghazkull, Yriel, Termi Libby, Vulkan.
In older fluff, not sure in the current army book, Cod Ones would not attackother reptilian creatures as easily as attacking warm bloods. So CoK would have to cover themselves in the smell of reptiles, especially a creature called the Troglodyte (a giant lizardman, the precursor to the current Kroxigor), and in order to stand the smell themselves, they would have to burn out their nasal membranes (probably usingammonia or something similar).
As sense of smell is an extremely important sense, especially to a race as sesnitive as the Elves, CoK giving up the sense of smell (and essentially the majority of their taste) would be regarded as a very worthy act...

I appreciate all the replies, not sure how I can model the guy's nostrils being burned out, but thank you for the information.
You know C/-Rt3r? In all seriousness I hadn't even thought of that, thanks. I can't believe that such an obvious thing slipped my mind
I think the miniature you linked to is 54mm ??
Yes it is. It's part of the warlord saga that the company produces, all in 54mm. They have another line called the battle series which consists of many of the same characters in different poses in 30mmI think the miniature you linked to is 54mm ??
Ah ok, thought i was helping
Glad you got it covered !
