I only do vampire counts for fantasuy at the moment, but I've pretty much finished my army and perfected it. My latest 40k army is nearly done also, so sooner or later i'll be craving to paint stuff.
Now I've been looking at various armies, I want quite an evil army, I don't like my guys to run away and I want some long range shooting which I can't get from daemons or vamps.
I've been looking through the dark elve book and I like what I see, a lot.
I'm very attracked the Blackguard with the special champion that makes them unbrakable, I think I'd have that unit as well as a unit of executioners accompied by a BSB with the unbreakable banner. Would this pair of units be too expensive in 2000 points? and I'd have both units 7 wide but how many would be a good idea to have, 14 or 21?
I guess the other main things i'd have the army would be a few bolt throwers, at least a unit of 21 spearmen 7 wide and units of crossbowmen. Otherwise I'm not sure what I'd have, I'd hope to have some dark riders possibly.
That sounds like a good plan. I'd actually avoid Kouran because he is very expensive, only has 1 wound, and it quite easy to kill. ITP works just fine I==M==HO. Execs could get stubborn from the Cauldron (which can also benefit other units), so you won't have to fork out for the super expensive Banner. Spearelves are there for pure cheap SCR, so running 5 wide is really all you need. Everything sounds good.
See if you can put up a list for us to have a look at.

i think both blackguard and executioner's are awesome unit but yes they cost ALOT. however as far as evil armies are concerned this is it. hyrdas are cheap and deadly with 11 attacks in H2H, a breath weapon and double saves from scaly skin and regen. assassins can be pricey but are worth throwing inot any army over 100pts and the magic is tough to beat unless your lizardmen and playing a massive game. I usually throw in a sorc as general with a unit of corsairs and an assassin to guard her which works well. personally I think the best is to have lot's of witch elves and a cauldron to back 'em up. toss in one heavy hitting unit or two and back it up with magic, hydras and bolt throwers and your looking at some serious damage quickly. personally I always win in 4 rounds with the DE.
Black Guard are one of the premier dark elf units and imo one of the best elite infantry unit in the game. I run my 6X3 but 7X2 is also a very common option. I would also suggest you avoid kouran, as they are immune to psych and are stubborn so it isnt likely they will be breaking and he is pretty squishy. I would also suggest giving them the ASF banner as it protects them from getting slaughtered on the charge. I also give my champ a null talisman but alot of people give him the crimson death. As for the execs. i think it would be hard to run 2 big units of elite infantry, and execs. i find to be a little lack luster. They work best in smaller units to be used as flanking forces or just general ball busters. The only problem is that they die like flies with strikes last and the only way to get ASF is with a BSB hag and asf banner and that is alot of points. I would also suggest running your spearmen in ranks of 5 to max out static rez. They arent really going to be killing much with S3.
Joe Peshi (lone wolf) kill tally:Lash Sorcerer, Ghazkull, Yriel, Termi Libby, Vulkan.
Black Guard are awesome and inexpensive pointswise (relatively), but a unit of 21 and a unit of 21 Executioners would cost almost 600 with Kouran, the Black Guard champion, which is a affordable but a little extravagant in a 2k game. Maybe you should take units of 14.

As for you DoctorDogmeat keep in mind that DE have to use their movement and running away can be used as a strategy. The DE need to work together. If they don't they WILL run.
Black Guards are VERY nice but don't count on them to much because they can be killed easily. I often made the mistake fielding the BG without a hero. They just can't take on more then a heroless core unit without a hero.

Personally, I am of the mind that BG are a great large unit, Executioners work better as smaller support units (6 wide with champion on the flanks) Keep the dark riders and furies wide to keep the enemy from charging them and funnel everyone into the center where your big blocks are. Then close the sandwich and wreak carnage.
