Ok so I been playing 2 guys, One Runs Bretonian one Runs Dwarf. The Bretonians I'm not havin a problem with but what kills Dwarfs pretty good in a Dark Elf Army?
Well It's Better Then A Kick In The Sack And Losing Your Wallet!!!!
Shades and Dark Riders can handle war machines, everything else dances around the Dwarf army until you can get a beneficial or combined charge. Cold One Knights with the Hydra Banner will tear up any Dwarf block, same goes for Executioners.
Use your speed to neutralize their shooting and engage him on your terms, that's the general plan. What sort of army do you run?

In some games I find my army is considerably larger than my opponents pointwise, so either his lines have to be somewhat thinner than you might expect, or, stupidly, he ignores one flank, which makes the game much easier. But that's probably just him.
Chariots are good against Dwarves, and all our cavalry. Normally, my warriors and other weaker units can't break through Dwarf units, so I put a banner or a noble in their ranks, which helps even things out. Witch Elves are pretty good-once, they were charged by miners, leaving 2 survivors, then those two somehow wiped all the miners out. Frenzy+poison=victory.
Worshipper of Dice
Last game: Victory Dark Elves vs High Elves & Orcs & Goblins
WDL: Dark Elves:37/6/8 Space Marines:7/3/3
I killed 12 dwarves with a str5 flame template. His oath stone didn't even help.
The hydra is nasty in a combo charge as well. Magic can be useful if he doesn't have 8 dispel dice. Take out the shooting and then surround him, or outrun and you'll still get a tie.
We normally play 2,000-2,500 point games. Always 2k at least though so we can take a lord if we so choose. Like a few before me said, executioners and CoK's are great. Dwarves have great leadership so any static combat resolution you can get for your units would help a lot to try and help break them. High toughness armies require higher strength units to combat the high toughness.
Now, the one thing that sucks is their artillery. They will shoot you to death, especially an experienced dwarf player that is good at judging distance. A couple things i suggest to deal with Dwarfs are as follows.1)One of the Dwarf army's biggest advantages are like I said their artillery. Safe to assume that if you take away their artillery pretty fast, then that takes just that much more turns of shooting you away. (and gives you VPs)Now since their war machines will be crippled by Shadowblade and your bolt throwers (if you put them on hills) then you will be the only one left with artillery. A lot of it lol. He most likely will have some miners to get behind your lines and try and take out your bolt throwers so keep a small unit of shades with great weapons behind your bolt throwers and maybe another small unit of black guard perhaps. But once you get their artillery out of the picture they cannot just sit back and wait for you to come to him which gives you the advantage even more so. Hope my advice comes to help you.
2)Do not take War Hydras if possible. Hard to imagine I know. But bolt throwers are strength 6 with the single shot D3 wounds and goes through ranks. Strength 6 is great to have against toughness 4 and NO armour saves are allowed against the single shot from a Bolt Thrower. So, take 2 of them, or if points allow take 4 of them.
3)Use Shadowblade!!!! People disagree with me here but the reason why I say use him is because he CAN be deployed(hidden) in an enemy War Machine. Pick the most dangerous war machine, or the one that has the Master Engineer in it. Quickly take that unit out and if your lucky he will have another war machine close to the one you deployed at which you can make short work of the next turn. A lot of times dwarves will not have any units behind their main line to guard their war machines so Shadowblade will be safe for a while.
