Hello everyone, I know am asking the enemy but many of my opponents are playing dark elf lists that heavily favor shooting, ie lots of dark riders and shades backed up with cold one knights and hydras. They are also heavily favoring dark magic- 1 lvl 4 and 1 lvl 2- My chaos knights are great, wulfaric has done well with his unit of mauraders and the hellcannon is doing great, but my warriors and chosen have yet to see combat. do you guys have any suggestions to help my poor asthmatic warriors, I am out maneuvered at every step!
magic magic magic. Marauder horsemen will work too since the worst they will suffer from the shades is -2 to hit (skirmisher/woods). Magnificent Bubos crushes Dark elves especially. It bypasses pendant of khaeleth cuz there is no str value and armor as it says. It any not pure calvalry list you need magic to support it, and Nurgle magic is better at sniping out characters which Dark elves rely on and think are invincible via pendant. Even cold one knights will have trouble breaking through Chaos warriors tho at a 5 up save at str 6.

I have played against the new WoC a few times, and won every time. (sorry to hurt your moral).
I would suggest trolls, I can not seem to over come them with shooting and have to concentrate a lot of forces to take them out. Run them next to a unit of warriors and a unit of knights with a hero/lord with a high or highest leadership. They always seem to take me out.
For shades, an easy way to take them out is with your hellcannon.... if your a good shot. but if you like doing it the hard way. The first spell from the lore of tzeench is easy enough, but that requires you to take a wizard. (not sure of your army list)
Dark Riders are easy enough if you want them gone. Horsemen with throwing axes or any other ranged equipment (not to sure of their upgrades), should do reasonably well. Just make sure you can catch him at the right time. Dark Riders will be able to nail the horsemen easily, so make sure to do it after they move and you can move into range with them.
Mark of Nurgle is also a pain for ranged armies (excluding magic).
Honestly I would say, if your building a list, is to match what he has with your own weapons. If he likes heavy magic, you go heavy magic (makes sure to take aleast 1 nurgle wiz, because of well Dr. has the right idea to take out characters.)
Here is a suggested list for you
Lord with tzeench magic, demonic mount into chaos knights
1 low level champ to go into chosen (with mark of khorne)
1 wizard of nurgle with warriors
2 warrior units nurgle or khorne
2 horsemen with throwing axes/ slaneesh (cheap)/nurgle (only if its cheaper than armor)
chosen unit with tzeench (ward save im sure)
knights of nurgle
Trolls 3 or 4
Hope this helps a little and good luck
Darks Elves 6000ptsWood Elves 500pts (WIP)
Imperial Guard 5000pts
I would defenately go with a little magic. And by little I mean angry pound your face in magic. Try a lvl 4 Tzeentch and a lvl 2 Tzeentch. Lvl 2 takes 2 scrolls and the conjoined homiculi.(Thats not how you spell it but you know what im talking about) Your lord then takes the Skull of kalam and they run close to eachother giving both of them a +2 to casting and +3 to +5 for the lvl 2. A setup like this lets you throw out your spell with fewer dice and have a high chance of going off.
If the hell cannon is working for you then go with it. Ive never been able to get it to do enough damage to justify taking it instead of making the room for a second unit of Chaos Knights.
As for how to deal with the shades and riders you can try running your warriors and knights as nurgle to help with the hitting or mix nurgle/tzeentch with the blasted standard. Try killing them with the first lvl spell.
don't take as many warriors or protect them. You have multiple ways of getting saves on your warriors as well as MR 1-2 on your troops. Use it. Your fast cav is quite a bit cheaper than ours, throw some axes. Nurgle magic kills bad guy mages with just the first spell, if not there are 2-3 other nurgle spells that eat bad guy units up quickly.
